Corazon Espinado
Eagle-Eye Cherry; Santana Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Esa mujer me está matando
Me ha espinado el corazón
Por más que trato de olvidarla
Mi alma no da razón

Mi corazón aplastado
Molido y abandonado
A ver, a ver tú sabes dime mi amor
Cuánto amor y qué dolor nos quedó

Ah ah ay, corazón espinado
Cómo duele, me duele no amar
Ah ah ay, cómo me duele el amor

Y cómo duele, cómo duele el corazón
Cuando uno es bien entregado
Pero no olvides mujer que algún día dirás
Ay ay ay, cómo me duele el amor

Ah ah ay, corazón espinado
Cómo duele, me duele no amar
Ah ah ay, cómo me duele el amor
Ah ah ay, corazón espinado
Ah ah ay, cómo me duele el amor

Cómo me duele el olvido
Cómo duele el corazón
Cómo me duele el estar vivo
Sin tenerte a un lado amor

Corazón espinado
Corazón espinado
Corazón espinado
Corazón espinado

Corazón espinado

Overall Meaning

In Corazon Espinado, Santana features the vocals of Eagle-Eye Cherry, as he sings about a woman that is causing him pain and has left his heart wounded. The lyrics describe the heartbreak and anguish that come with being in love with someone who does not return those feelings. Despite his efforts to forget her, his soul cannot let go. He feels crushed and abandoned, and wonders how much love and pain they have left. The repetition of the phrase “corazón espinado” (prickly heart) emphasizes the sharp pain he is feeling.

The chorus brings out the intensity of the pain, with the repetition of “ah ah ay, corazón espinado, cómo duele, me duele no amar” (oh oh oh, prickly heart, how it hurts, it hurts not to love). The singer acknowledges the hurt of not being loved back, and how it feels like a physical pain in the chest. He believes that he has given his all to this woman, but is left with a broken heart. The bridge describes how difficult it is to forget and move on, and how painful it is to live without the person they love.

Overall, the lyrics of Corazon Espinado capture the emotions that come with heartbreak, especially when one is in love with someone who does not feel the same way. The combination of Santana’s guitar work, Cherry’s vocals, and the heartfelt lyrics create a powerful song that many can relate to.

"Wishing It Was"
(feat. Eagle Eye Cherry)

Beauty and grace is what touches me most
Good time can put me in fear
Always feel safe when things are bad
So I cannot let you come near
It seems that I thrive on the dark side of things
I always feel alive when the death bell rings
Now you have come and bring out the tears in me
Pain never makes me cry, but happiness does
It's so strange to watch my life go by
Wishing it was
Wishing it was more like a fantasy
Where everyone surprises me
Wishing it was
This feeling won't last cause I cannot survive
I tell you I've been here before
When it's moving this fast
It's a matter of time
One of us walks out that door
It seems that I thrive on the dark side of things
I always feel alive when the death bell rings
Now you come and you bring out the tears in me
Give this some thought
And I'm sure you will know
This is the way it must be
Emotions will rise, emotions will flow
You bring out the tears in me
It's so strange to watch your life walk and where everyday
I've been burning the candle at both ends
And lied the truth I can't pretend
This is why I will not stay baby
Just like that I'm on my way. because no one seems to like to post lyrics in the edit.

The folk listening to Santana Supernatural are folk who recognize and appreciate music, not noise. Music unites us all.

Music unites us all. And there's no need to let different tastes in music divide us.

Love this song so much. It brings me lot of nostalgia. My Mom loved Santana and just two months before she died on 1/28/2015, she told me about how much she liked this song and the meaning behind it captured her. She would always listen to it in the car and two months after, she dies. Now I totally understand why she focused on this song towards the end. I am forever marked by this song. 🖤
