The band has released four albums since their formation: "Peace, Love, Death Metal" (2004), "Death by Sexy" (2006), "Heart On" (2008) and "Zipper Down" (2015). Despite their band name, Eagles of Death Metal is not a death metal band. Hughes stated that a friend was introducing Josh Homme to the death metal genre. When he played a song by the Polish band Vader and made a claim that the song was within the death metal genre, Homme then referred to Vader as "The Eagles of Death Metal". After hearing this phrase, he wondered what a cross between the Eagles and a death metal band would sound like. In a 2003 interview Homme described the sound of the band as a combination of "bluegrass slide guitar mixed with stripper drum beats and Canned Heat vocals." Jesse Hughes is known by fans for his enthusiastic interaction with audiences at live performances.
While the band were on stage at Le Bataclan in Paris, France, on November 13, 2015, the audience was attacked by terrorists wielding automatic rifles, grenades and suicide vests. The death toll inside the venue was 89, including the group's merchandise manager, but the band members made it safely out of the venue via a door backstage.
Stacks o' Money
Eagles of Death Metal Lyrics

Yes I've got a stack o' money in my right hand
Yes you know I got the money 'cause'
I played the right games
Gonna shoot up like a star
And set the whole world in flames (oh yes!)
Little honey on my left hand
Then I see a real heart stopper
Wearin' instep shoes
She's got the fire in her black eyes
And a boyfriend too (oh no!)
Got no money in my left hand
No I don't I've got no money in my right hand
Sugar 'cause' I went on the corner
Where I met the wrong man
I gave him all my money for the magic in his hands (yes!)
The lyrics of Eagles of Death Metal's song "Stacks O'Money" speak about the desire of having money and how it leads a person to make decisions that may not be the best. The song starts with the singer holding a stack of money in both of his hands and boasting about it. He claims that he has earned the money by playing the right games. He believes that with this money, he can become a star and set the world on fire. However, as the song progresses, he talks about the risks of having too much money. He met a girl who caught his eye, but she already had a boyfriend. He then lost all his money by trusting the wrong person.
The lyrics of "Stacks O'Money" can be interpreted in different ways. On one hand, it can be seen as a commentary on the negative aspects of the pursuit of money. The singer's obsession with money leads him to make poor decisions that result in him losing everything he has. On the other hand, the song can be seen as an expression of joy and freedom. The singer has the money, and he can do whatever he wants with it. This is seen in the way he speaks about being able to shoot up like a star.
Overall, "Stacks O'Money" is a song about the highs and lows of having money. It is an observation of the things that people do to acquire wealth and the consequences that may follow.
