After you finish your trigger job, the thing to do is try and release the slide from slide lock on an empty chamber. Yea I know you should not do this a lot, but do it once after adjusting trigger pull to see whether the hammer stays put. I can do a 2 pound trigger easy on my 1911s, it will even hold on live fire, but the hammer wil follow when the slide is released on empty chamber.

Just did this on my RIA GI 1911 and it improved it a lot but I forgot to smooth the disconnector so I will revisit it soon.

Gunsmiths charge more because they have invested $$ into their craft. Cost of equipment, tooling, education, and years of experience. I would not let any Joe Blow work on my firearms unless they have a proven track record and the education to work on my specific firearm. No offense to the OP. I don't know his background. Besides, shaping and smoothing the sear is just one part of a good trigger job. There is also spring adjustments, trigger bow adjustments, polishing disconnectors, trigger bow... a lot more work for a quality trigger job.

If you're stoning MIM parts then you have to be very careful. It doesn't take a whole lot to come off of it. They're not super hard. They're only surface hardened and the thickness may very on the hardness. You have to be super careful not to take off a lot. You're wanting to just smooth it up and put that edge on it but be very careful if you're doing this professionally. I would like the people know that this is not going to last very long and I would recommend them not to do this on a mem part. Actually I really wouldn't even do this on metal injection part and have them spring for a new sear and a new hammer together I have done this on a metal injection part it can be done. Just have to be really careful

Steel composition has a lot more to do with it then whether it's injection molded or not.

I'm just going to give some advise (I Hope you don't mind). It's about setting up and focusing your picture frame. Bring it in closer so you don't have to bring a part in more than an inch + to see a close up.
I liked your out look on doing a good job without over doing it. Your relaxed tone is great, but needs to be a little less on the mumbling side(my ears had no issue), but there were some others that didn't like it, but everyone has different hearing issues, I'm 71 so I've gone though the gambit.
I've subscribed to your vid's....... Hope to see more.

jrabmw69, Hey, I’m 71 too. I didn’t think anyone else lived this long besides me. Just kidding, I’ve been shooting 1911’s since 1968. Jeff Cooper was a big influence on me. Then Clint Smith took over then several others (Larry Vickers). It’s a great platform that I tend to shoot better than anything else. Good observations and advise.

I'd much rather have molten-metal castings for internal parts that what I found out when the sear edge started crumbling in my Crown City Arms 1911. Turns out the sear and some of the other parts were made of SINTERED STEEL, which is the metal equivalent of particle board.

that's the medium stone, you are supposed to finish with the white stone, I have never seen anybody do a freehand hook height job either. ron powers sells the hammer stoning fixture for around 150.00 does an excellent job. kids don't try this at home. also this is not required to get a low trigger pull all you need do is tune your sear spring correctly you can get 2 1/2# pull in 30 mins

You went about stoning the sear way to aggressively and also incorrectly. Slowly and move the stone in only one direction. You look as though you're sanding down a piece of wood for a door jam!
