Borderline
Ed Sheeran Lyrics

Sneaks its way past, infecting everything
And every chapter has an end
This is one momentous sequel, don't you think?
And the blackbirds, they fly
Like a frown on the skyline
Engulfed in darkness, shielded from my eyes
One foot in, one out, I'm stuck on the borderline
Which way will I?
Guess I should take this on the chin
But I don't even know how all of this began
And we are made to mould and bend
How can I wish for nothing when it's still a sin?
And right now, I feel I'm running from the light
Engulfed in darkness, shielded from my eyes
One foot in, one out, I'm stuck on the borderline
Which way will I?
Tears never arrive, these ducts are dry
We are so blind waiting on the borderline
Waiting on the borderline
So I will pour another drink
And try to drown the pain with salt along the rim
And I'll shut off the things I think
'Cause nothing good will ever come from worrying
Right now, I feel I'm running from the light
Engulfed in darkness, shielded from my eyes
One foot in, one out, I'm stuck on the borderline
Which way will I?
Tears never arrive, these ducts are dry
We are so blind
The lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s song “Borderline” revolve around the theme of sadness and uncertainty. Sheeran talks about how sadness always finds a way in and how it infects and influences everything in life. The unrelenting cycle of sadness is portrayed through his dynamic use of words as he shifts the focus of the lyrics from the inevitability of endings in every chapter of life to the dark emotions he finds himself submerged in.
Sheeran then talks about how the blackbirds fly ‘like a frown on the skyline’, which could suggest that the darkness he is experiencing is not only within himself but also in his surroundings. He feels like he is running away from the light and is stuck in a state of darkness, and doesn’t know which way to turn or what to do. The lyrics also imply that he is unable to express how he feels or shed tears, making him feel blind and stuck in limbo.
In the chorus, Sheeran admits to the difficulties of accepting his situation and implies that he tries to ignore them by turning to alcohol to numb his pain. He shuts off his thoughts and worries in an attempt to find comfort and solace. The song ends with the questions: “Which way will I? Tears never arrive, these ducts are dry. We are so blind waiting on the borderline”, showing his ultimate sense of confusion and desolation.

Frontera
¿A dónde voy?
¿A dónde voy?
¿A dónde voy?
Lágrimas nunca llegan
Esos ductos están secos
Estamos muy ciegos

Borderline Lyrics✨🖤
Sadness always finds a man
Seeks it's way by, infecting everything
And every chapter has an end
But this is one I've learned to seek, hold on to them
And the black birds, they fly
Like I fell on the skyline
But I, I fear
Running from the light
Engulfed in darkness
Sharing my eyes
Wondering why I'm stuck on the borderline
Which way will I
'Cause I should take this, I'm a champ
But I don't even know how all of this began
And we are made to mourn and then
How can I wish for nothing when it's still the same?
But now I fear
Running from the light
Engulfed in darkness
Sharing my eyes
Wondering why I'm stuck on the borderline
Which way will I
Tears never run
There's no such way
We are so low
We're on the borderline
We're on the borderline
So I will pour another drink
I try to drown the pain, it's all too long away
I shut off the things I think
'Cause nothing good will ever come from me
But now I fear
Running from the light
Engulfed in darkness
Sharing my eyes
Wondering why I'm stuck on the borderline
Which way will I
Tears never run
There's no such way
We are so low
