Although Holland was an early Motown artist who recorded minor hits such as "Jamie", he started working behind the scenes due to stage fright. He is best known as a member of Holland-Dozier-Holland, the songwriting and production team that was responsible for much of the Motown sound and numerous hit records by artists such as Martha & the Vandellas, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Isley Brothers. Holland served as the team's lyricist, and also worked with producer Norman Whitfield on lyrics for the songs he produced for The Marvelettes and The Temptations.

Wonderful song. Eddie got that Jackie Wilson thing working.

Delivered with so much conviction and what a great performance!

I was 11 years-old in DC when this came out in 1961 and in 7th grade. Love this. We would be at the local roller skating rink when this played. Me and my girls loved for the boys to look at us but scared to death they would say something. My old brothers, who were teenagers at the time, would tell me if a boy asked for a chance, tell him, "Hell Naw!" (LOL). Very protective of Lil sis.
