@Formal They were actors. Brian Setzer played Eddie Cochran . They all did their own singing except Lou Diamond Phillips. Marshall Crenshaw did a great Buddy Holly. The guy that did Jackie Wilson ( Howard Huntsbury) has done many Jackie Wilson shows. Remember all the singers portrayed in La Bamba were long deceased..

I remember this great song from when I was a 12 year old kid in 1958, It was a fantastic sound coming from the old radio in those days. I became a big fan of Eddie Cochran's then and I'm still a big fan now 60 years later.

@Walker Parisien He was 21. Eddie was in the movie, The Girl Can't Help It in 1956. He was only 16 years old then. Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps were also in this movie along with Little Richard and The Platters. Gene recorded Be Boppa Lula in 1955 and it was featured in this 56 movie. Someone said Gene copied Elvis but Gene hadn't even thought about Elvis copying him in 56 on Don't Be Cruel. In 57, Elvis, Gene, Eddie Cochran, Buddy Holly and Buddy Knox were on The Louisiana Hayride. A silent film clip shows them all together. Elvis didn't speak to any of the other guys and walked off the stage when the crowd went wild over Gene Vincent singing Be Boppa Lula. Elvis did copy Gene in some songs but Gene never copied anyone.

@Wesley Cook Not true at all. The accident was a single-vehicle crash, and it collided with a concrete lamppost, not a truck or lorry.

The taxi was also not hit head-on, as the driver, and the road manager in front survived pretty much unscathed. Look at pictures of the car, and you'll see that the back end is mangled, yet the front is more or less fine.

The accident was caused by the driver's speed around a tight bend, on a re-gravelled road. He was the only one at fault for the death of Eddie Cochran.

That crash would've been minor 99 out of 100 times, however, fate was always against Cochran, and an early death for him seemed to be inescapable. He tried all he could not to end up like Buddy Holly, yet he did.

@Fernando Maron Eddie, Gene and Eddie:s girlfriend were hit by a lorry ( truck) on the way to the airport in a limo. Eddie was asleep in the backseat. Gene was in the front. The truck was speeding and hit the limo head on. Eddie didn't fall out but the impact broke his neck. His girlfriend was behind him in the limo and how Gene Vincent escaped death is miraculous. Gene did have a broken arm and a concussion. Gene didn't know Eddie was dead until he woke up in the hospital days later. Eddie had already been brought home and was buried by then. Someone said the limo driver was also speeding, but the truck was the cause.

@真理Truth Buddy Holly died in an airplane crash. The plane took off around the midnight of February 3rd, 1959 and apparently crashed 4 or 5 minutes after takeoff. The plane was found later the in the morning. Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, JP “The Big Bopper” Richardson, and Roger Peterson died in the crash.

talents as well as being a brilliant guitarist.

I always thought Eddie Cochran would have been bigger than Elvis if he didn't die so young. He was certainly a much better musician. Elvis strummed his guitar once in a while. Eddie Cochran could really play that thing.

62 years ago today Ed was taken from us . The man that shook the UK and the world with his unique guitar style and voice . An icon in his day . So so sad to think he is not here and not much remains of his personal possesions from his home . His house is no longer there and his items were sold off . God bless him
