Born in Kingston, Jamaica as Ripton Hylton, Eek-a-Mouse began his foray into reggae music when he was in college, but did not begin to garner a substantial audience until 1979 with his hit "Once a Virgin". This same year, he changed his singing name to "Eek-a-Mouse", the name of the racehorse he always bet on. In 1981, he cheered up the Reggae Sunsplash Festival, which was still mourning over the death of reggae icon Bob Marley. After this, his fame continued increasing through the year 1982 until 1988, when he released "Eek-A-Nomics", his last full-length CD until 1996.
Eek-a-Mouse is a regular at the Jamaican music festival Reggae Sunsplash and often teams up with reggae duo Michigan and Smiley. He has also been featured on Christian rock group P.O.D.'s (Payable on Death) album Satellite, lending his vocals to the rock-reggae track "Ridiculous".

I'm on the loose again
In my mind, I really am insane
Sometimes I don't even know my name
(?)
I'm different in every way
So come and make my name
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
My mother always loved me more than you could
I can't help myself I really wish I could
You come to my house, I'll show you what I mean
I'll kiss you and (?) you and make you wanna scream
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
I am a freak
A crazy creep, a bloody freak
Get on your feet, dance to the beat you crazy freak
You crazy freak, you bloody creep
Get on your feet dance to the beat
Still a creep, still a creep, still a creep, still a creep.
Get up on you feet dance to the beat
You bloody freak you bloody freak, you lousy creep
(?)
I am freak, I am a freak
I am coming at the?
Get on your feet, you lousy creep
You are a lazy freak
Get on your feet, dance for the beat
We're going on the street
Get on your feet, get on your feet
And dance to this crazy beat
You freak, you freak
You are a bloody freak
You freak, you freak
You are a bloody freak
You freak, you freak
You creep, you creep
I'm gone, and I'll see you again
Bye
The song "The Freak" by Eek-a-Mouse is a narrative from the perspective of an individual who considers themselves to be a freak. The first lines acknowledge their insanity and their lack of understanding of their own name. They then move on to identify themselves as different in every way and that they are a freak. The song then turns to the idea of their mother loving them more than anyone else and their disposition towards kissing, and doing things with people to make them scream.
As the song progresses, the individual continues to reiterate that they are a freak and that people should dance to their beat. The chorus repeats the words "I am a freak" multiple times, as the individual encourages the listener to acknowledge who they are and join in on their unique style of life. The lyrics then imply that the listener is lazy and that they do not fully embrace the freak lifestyle the individual is promoting.
The song provides insight into the mindset of someone who perceives themselves as an outcast for their differences. The individual encourages the listener to embrace their uniqueness and join them in their freedom of expression. The song, while having a somewhat dark undertone, celebrates and acknowledges the beauty in being different and encourages the listener to dance to their own beat.

Just remembered this song after a decade. I found it as a young kid, going through my dad's iTunes library. I had so much of his stuff back when those devices ran the show.
