They released through the leaf label Springer EP (2003), Rumraket (2005), Tripper (2004), Under Giant Trees EP (2007), Parades (2007) and the live recording with The Danish National Chamber Orchestra, Performing Parades (2009) before releasing their 2012 4th album ‘Piramida‘.
Along the new album Efterklang also launched ‘The Piramida Concerts’ which premiered in a concert with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra in Sydney Opera House May 26th 2012. In Total the band played 16 of these orchestral concerts in connection with the release of the ‘Piramida‘ album.
Efterklang also dabbles with filmmaking (see ‘The Ghost of Piramida’ by Andreas Koefoed & An Island, their collaborative film with Vincent Moon) and they also use to run the tiny, but prolific label Rumraket.
The project went into hiatus in 2014 after the formation of Liima by Tatu Rönkkö, Mads Brauer, Casper Clausen and Rasmus Stolberg.

Efterklang Lyrics

They go to bed alone
A moving quest awaiting
We go to bed alone
Cynical cries for make-up love
Fighting best in the know
He's in the bed below me
Oh I'm over it
Ah upset
Oh I'm over it
Ah upset
Turn away, turn away, turn away love
They're covering all of the grave
Move away, move away, move away love
There's something about a prayer
Turn away, turn away, turn away ha turn away
They're covering all of the grave
Move away, move away, move away ha move away
There's something about a prayer
Turn away, turn away, turn away ha
(I'm over it)
They're covering all of the grave
Move away, move away, move away ha
(Ah)
There something about a prayer
Oh
(I'm over it)
Ah
The lyrics of Efterklang's "Monument" juxtapose themes of love and loneliness, guilt and forgiveness, and life and death. The opening lines "We turn the bed, a couple; they go to bed alone" suggests the duality of being with someone yet feeling alone. The "moving quest" that awaits highlights the uncertainty and ambiguity of life, as we seek to find meaning and purpose in a world that is constantly changing.
The next few lines hint at the complexities of relationships, with "cynical cries for make-up love" and "fighting best in the know". It is clear that there is tension between two people, perhaps due to a past argument. The mention of "a man possessed with guilt" suggests that one of them may have done something wrong and is struggling to come to terms with it.
The chorus, which repeats the lines "Turn away, turn away, turn away love... Move away, move away, move away love...", could be interpreted as a plea to let go of the past and move on. The repetition of "there's something about a prayer" suggests that there is a spiritual dimension to the song's message.
