Aa douka oshiete o kure
Hito wa naze kizutsukeatte arasou no deshou
Rin to saku hana yo
Soko kara nani ga mieru
Hito wa naze yurushiau koto dekinai no deshou
Ame ga sugite natsu wa ao o utsushita
Chiisaku yureta watashi no mae de
Nani mo iwazu ni
Karete yuku tomo ni
Omae wa nani omou
Kotoba o motanu sono ha de nanto
Ai o tsutaeru
Aa natsu no hi wa kagete kaze wa naida
Futatsu ga kasanatte
Ikita akashi o watashi wa utau
Na mo naki tomo no tame
The lyrics of Egoist's song Euterpe express a sense of confusion and frustration at the human tendency to hurt each other. The first verse begins with a plea to the flowers that bloom in the fields, asking them to please explain why people continuously hurt each other. The second verse describes the passing of time, from the rain of spring to the heat of summer, and notes that people still cannot forgive each other. The bridge of the song asks the question of what someone thinks as they wither away and die, unable to express their feelings or love.
The song's lyrics suggest that despite the beauty of nature and the fleeting nature of life, humanity is still unable to understand one another and find a way to coexist peacefully. This idea is further emphasized in the song's title, "Euterpe," which refers to the Greek muse of music and lyric poetry. The muse's presence in the song suggests that music and poetry can be a means of finding catharsis and understanding even in the face of the incomprehensible.
