No More Like That
Eiafuawn Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She, she, she
She gets to me
Like broken bones
You know you're breaking my heart
And I'm coming apart
Calling in sick
Sleeping in
It's sabotage or to move apart
Creeping in
Everything's
Running so smooth

I hope, hope, hope
The sky falls down
Start out of time
You know you're breaking my heart
And I'm coming apart
Calling it quits
Are you giving in
Stops and turns
And no one in there

Are you sleeping in
Flexible commoners

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Eiafuawn's song "No More Like That" are a reflection on the emotional toll that a toxic relationship can take on a person. The singer is describing their partner's actions in a way that suggests they are being hurt repeatedly, like broken bones. The partner's behavior is causing them immense pain, and the singer admits that they are "coming apart" as a result.

The lyrics also touch on the idea of sabotage, with the singer suggesting that their partner's actions may be intentional. They talk about calling in sick and sleeping in, which could be seen as attempts to avoid their partner, or as evidence of their partner's attempts to keep them from functioning normally. Despite all of this, the singer acknowledges that everything is "running so smooth", suggesting that on the surface things may seem fine, but beneath the surface lies a lot of pain and turmoil.

In the chorus, the singer expresses a hope that the "sky falls down", implying that they may be hoping for some catastrophic event to occur that would force them to confront their relationship and make a change. They also mention the idea of "calling it quits" and "giving in", suggesting that they may be considering ending the relationship.

Overall, the song is a poignant reflection on the effects of a relationship that is causing emotional harm, and the difficult decision to either try to make things work or move on.

This song was on repeat the week my long term girlfriend and I broke up. The lyrics tell the story, but I listen to it now healed and healthy and I feel grateful that I understand this song and this song understands me.

The song to me describes my relationship very well. About how I’d take time off work and school just to talk to her at night (-8hrs long distance). Made me sick and ill, my skin is stained with purple shadows under my eyes still to this day and I was put on antidepressants.

“It’s sabotage or move apart” She used to sabotage herself and me to avoid moving apart peacefully.

“She gets to me” because I loved her.
