The band began as an after-church endeavor when the DuPrees were young. The band was named Moss Eisley, after the Star Wars city Mos Eisley, but for legal reasons the "Moss" was dropped officially when they announced their tour opening for Coldplay. Now they're all grown up and have both headlined and opened for bands such as (but not limited to): Taking Back Sunday, Coldplay, Switchfoot, Snow Patrol, Brand New, Vedera, MUTEMATH, The Myriad, Hot Hot Heat and New Found Glory, and Say Anything, in which Sherri DuPree married lead singer Max Bemis. Featuring ethereal, soaring harmonies and dreamy imagery, Eisley has a sound all their own. They are, however, not without comparison or influence. Their sound echoes to dream pop and artists such as Cocteau Twins or Mazzy Star and to contemporary acts such as Denali.

Saw horses growing out the lawn
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
I glimpsed a bat with butterfly wings
Oh what marvelous things
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Dark nights hold tight and sleep tight my baby
Morning light shall burst bright and keep us here safely
I followed a rabbit through rows of mermaids entwined shrubbery
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh what marvelous things
But they are they are they are giving me the creeps
Dark nights hold tight and sleep tight my baby
Morning light shall burst bright and keep us here safely
Oh lying in the sun
Everyday feeling all of the magic and might find the wonder
Dark nights hold tight and sleep tight my baby
Morning light shall burst bright and keep us here safely
Morning light shall burst bright and keep us here safely
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
The lyrics to Eisley's song Marvelous Things describe a dreamlike sequence of events. The singer wakes up before dawn and sees horses growing out of the lawn, feeling a sense of wonder and amazement. The singer then sees a bat with butterfly wings, which they describe as a marvelous thing. The following verse talks about dark nights holding tight and instructs a baby to sleep safely until morning light bursts bright. The singer then explains that they followed a rabbit through rows of mermaids entwined shrubbery, finding even more marvelous things.
The dreamlike journey ends with the singer lying in the sun, feeling all the magic and might and finding the wonder of everyday life. While the events in the song may seem nonsensical on the surface, they are symbolic of the wonder and beauty to be found in the world around us. The dark nights represent fear and uncertainty, but morning light brings safety and hope.
Overall, Marvelous Things is a song about finding joy in the unexpected and learning to appreciate the wonder of life. It encourages the listener to embrace the marvels around us and to face the darkness with the knowledge that the morning light will always come.

She walks in the room
Her nose in the air
All jaws drop
The guys just stare
Perfect complexion
A perfect smile
The spotlight's on her, but mean while
Friend slips by unnoticed
By admiring eyes
But God sees more than make up
He sees what's beneath an outward disguise

My daughter was 30, passed away 2 years ago. She loved this band so much, in 2010 she named her daughter Eisley. She's 13 now. These songs are very special to our family. ❤

This song reminds me of a simpler time - being an emo kid in high school. Now I'm just an aging hipster
