He is, alongside Oscar Agudelo, Olimpo Cárdenas and Tito Cortés, one of the most representative interpreters of early Colombian tango and milonga. He is also considered a pioneer of the despecho genre.
One of his biggest influences was the Argentinean singer Ignacio Corsini, AKA El Caballero Cantor. During his 60-year-long career he has composed and recorded over 2,000 tracks, making him the most prolific singer in Colombia's history.

Vencera a todo el mal
Y si tu quieres un gerrero
Venceras con todo el poder
Llegaras hasta el final
Si los sueños se van el cosmo
Sellara pedazo dejad lucir luz y liberta(ad)
Como son sus poderes como el corazon
Sinsilla jovenes guerrero(os)
Sincilla siempre luchara(a)
Sincilla unidos con su fuerza(a)
Sincilla y pedazus
Hasta el final
The lyrics of El Caballero Gaucho's song Libertad express the idea that truth will always triumph over evil, and that those who want to be warriors will have the power to conquer anything. The song encourages listeners to reach their goals no matter the obstacles, and to never give up until the end. The mention of dreams disappearing and the cosmos sealing a piece of lucid light and freedom suggests that the universe has a way of guiding us towards our aspirations.
The lyrics also highlight the importance of unity and perseverance. The young warriors (sinsilla jovenes guerrero) are called to fight together and never let anyone harm their heart or their strength. The repetition of the word "sincilla" emphasizes the idea of simplicity and purity, suggesting that staying true to oneself and fighting with honesty and integrity will lead to victory. Through the song, El Caballero Gaucho inspires listeners to embrace freedom and strive towards achieving their dreams, no matter how difficult the journey may be.
