They released three albums during the '90s, with their debut Electronic selling over a million copies worldwide. However, the follow-up Raise the Pressure, despite debuting in the UK Top 10, was a commercial flop by comparison. The group's highest charting singles is 1992's Disappointed, which reached #6 in the UK. The band's biggest American hit was 1989's Getting Away With It which reached #38 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Twisted Tenderness was released in 1999 and again hit the UK Top 10. This third and final studio album was co-produced by influential New York club DJ and dance producer Arthur Baker, with whom Sumner had previously worked on New Order's 1983 hit Confusion, amongst other songs. Marr and Sumner remained the only official members of the band, but were joined by Doves Jimi Goodwin on bass and Black Grape drummer Ged Lynch.
In September 2006 the duo's work was compiled on the album Get The Message - The Best Of Electronic.

When you know it's not true and you know it's not right
Got not one ounce, inch of control
You got lust for blood runnin' in your soul
You know if every person upon this earth
Became the image of the mother in a violent birth
We could sow the seed, toss up the sand
And heal this brutal beat-up land
If there's a place to be why don't you come with me
Listen to your father, listen to your brother
Take every chance that comes, maybe you'll find someone
We don't need to argue, we just need each other
There's a mirror on the table, if you feel you could use it
Don't be ashamed, go ahead just do it
Protect your cranium, let it explode
Put your faith in the mother lode
Now if all this seems to be eccentric
Be aware be sure I meant it
The tunnel of love has got no end
I'm well received, but I don't send
The lyrics to Electronic's song "Feel Every Beat" speak to the experience of feeling out of control, and the desire to find a sense of harmony and unity. The song explores themes of violence, both physical and emotional, and suggests that by embracing our shared humanity and working together, we can help heal a world that can often feel chaotic and broken.
The first verse sets the scene with a vivid image of being caught up in a violent fight, feeling powerless and overcome by a lust for blood. However, the second verse offers a glimmer of hope, suggesting that if we could all embody the nurturing qualities of a mother, we could work together to heal the world. The chorus urges listeners to come together and support each other, rather than fighting and arguing needlessly. The bridge offers a moment of introspection, with a mirror metaphorically representing the opportunity to reflect on ourselves and release any pent-up emotions.
Overall, the song encourages empathy and understanding, suggesting that a world guided by these principles would be a more peaceful and fulfilling place to live.
