Hey Little Girl
Elvis Presley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey little girl, you sure are cute to me
Come up a little closer, so I can see
Hold it baby now stay right where you are
Hey little girl you oughta be a movie star

All right...
Hey little girl, come on and dance with me
You're about the cutest thing I ever did see
Hey little girl, I'd like to take you home
Come on, come on, come on I want you for my very own

All right...hoo!...hoo!..
Hey little girl, you better hang on tight
A-won't you swing it to the left, and shake it to the right

Hey little girl, you know your lookin' fine
Get ready honey let's go just-a one more time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Elvis Presley's song "Hey Little Girl" are a playful and flirtatious invitation to a young woman. The opening line, "Hey little girl, you sure are cute to me," sets the tone for the rest of the song. Elvis then asks her to come closer so he can get a better look at her, and tells her she should be a movie star because of how beautiful she is.

In the next verse, Elvis asks the girl to dance with him and tells her that she's the cutest thing he's ever seen. He also says he'd like to take her home and have her for his own. In the final verse, Elvis urges the girl to hold on tight as they dance, and tells her to swing and shake to the left and right. He then compliments her again, saying that she looks fine and that they should dance again.

Overall, the lyrics to "Hey Little Girl" are a lighthearted and somewhat innocent expression of attraction from a male perspective. The song was released in 1960 and reflects the cultural attitudes of the time, when it was more socially acceptable for men to openly pursue women.

no matter how big of a fan you are of elvis, this is creepy no way around it

Iris Silver

nah but to be fair it is a film and he was signed to a contract which means he had to do it and the script was to do this song and dance with the her innit. you can see in the video he is being gentle with her and being as child-like with her as possible. also he spoke on about how uncomfortable he was doing this film because of this part.

cool person

Yes but he didn’t have a choice. It’s weird and that’s why he said himself he was uncomfortable with it.

Nicole Frances

Btw there’s people talking about a contract. Youre not supposed to break contracts for many reasons. But he definitely could break the contract if he felt it crossed a line. And he didn’t.

cool person

@Nicole Frances did he tell you that

cool person

@Nicole Frances I think he’d rather not do that instead of years in jail time and losing all his money… at the time this was filmed his mom just recently passed away too

Okay but elvis didn't right this shit either he had signed a contract and was not allowed to refuse you bringing michael jackson into this like there wasn't a whole documentary made about him by one of his victims.
