Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family when he was 13 years old. His music career began there in 1954, recording at Sun Records with producer Sam Phillips, who wanted to bring the sound of African American music to a wider audience. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was a pioneer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. In 1955, drummer D. J. Fontana joined to complete the lineup of Presley's classic quartet and RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who would manage the singer for more than two decades. Some entertainers when they get up there on top, start thinking that the people are there because of them and that they are somewhat above the crowd...Elvis never ever lost the mentality that he was there because of the people who paid to see his show, and that he was no different than anyone else...And he did not like seeing audience members misstreated..and if he saw it, he would say it just like that....

A good example of what you're saying took place in 1973 at a show in Vegas when the management of the Hilton were about to fire one of their employees whom Elvis liked. Elvis goes into a wild version of this song and dedicates the Tiger Man part to the hotel management half way through it. I believe this was the incident that brought on a clash between him and his manager, Col Tom Parker. Elvis fires Parker in anger but unfortunately takes it back it the next day. I feel sure you know all this already!
