Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, with his family when he was 13 years old. His music career began there in 1954, recording at Sun Records with producer Sam Phillips, who wanted to bring the sound of African American music to a wider audience. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was a pioneer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. In 1955, drummer D. J. Fontana joined to complete the lineup of Presley's classic quartet and RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who would manage the singer for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number one hit in the United States. With a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records, he became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines during a transformative era in race relations, made him enormously popular—and controversial.
In November 1956, Presley made his film debut in Love Me Tender. Drafted into military service in 1958, Presley relaunched his recording career two years later with some of his most commercially successful work. He held few concerts however, and guided by Parker, proceeded to devote much of the 1960s to making Hollywood movies and soundtrack albums, most of them critically derided. In 1968, following a seven-year break from live performances, he returned to the stage in the acclaimed television comeback special Elvis, which led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of highly profitable tours. In 1973, Presley gave the first concert by a solo artist to be broadcast around the world, Aloha from Hawaii. Years of prescription drug abuse severely compromised his health, and he died suddenly in 1977 at his Graceland estate, just 42 years of age.
Presley is one of the most celebrated and influential musicians of the 20th century. Commercially successful in many genres, including pop, country, blues, and gospel, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music. He won three competitive Grammys, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36, and has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame.
Moonlight Swim
Elvis Presley Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Far away from the crowd
All alone upon the beach
Our lips and our arms
Close within each others reach
Will be on a moonlight swim
Let's go on a moonlight swim
After just a little while
I'll sit and pretend
That you're on a desert isle
With me on a moonlight swim
Though the air is cold
With kisses oh so sweet
I'll keep you warm
So very warm from head to you feet
Let's go on a moonlight swim
We're in love and above
There's a crazy balloon
That sits winking down
And inviting us to come on in
On a moonlight swim
The lyrics to Elvis Presley's song Moonlight Swim describe an intimate moment between two lovers escaping the noise and crowds to be alone on the beach. The two embrace, with their lips and arms close within reach, and they're on a romantic night swim. The lyrics also describe a race to a raft and the playful pretend of being on a deserted island with just the two of them during the moonlight swim. Despite the cold air, the singer promises to keep their love interest warm with sweet affection.
The song's lyrics are sensual and poetic, describing the euphoria and passion that two people can share in each other's company while swimming under the moonlight. The lyrics portray the fulfillment of a desire to be with someone, and the moment where two people are lost in each other's love. The moonlight and the beach create an idyllic setting for romance that transports the listener to a magical moment.

Let's go on a moonlight swim
Let's go for a romantic swim under the moonlight
Far away from the crowd
Away from the people and commotion
All alone upon the beach
Just the two of us on the shore
Our lips and our arms
We'll be holding each other close
Close within each other's reach
We'll be physically close to each other
Will be on a moonlight swim
We'll be swimming under the moonlight
To the raft we can race
We can race to the raft together
After just a little while
After swimming for a bit
I'll sit and pretend
I'll imagine that we're on a deserted island
That you're on a desert isle
I'll imagine that we're stranded on a deserted island
With me on a moonlight swim
But in reality we're still on our moonlight swim together
Though the air is cold
Even though it's chilly outside
With kisses oh so sweet
I'll keep you warm with sweet kisses
I'll keep you warm
By holding you close and giving you warmth
So very warm from head to your feet
I'll make sure that you're warm all over
We're in love and above
We're deeply in love and above all else
There's a crazy balloon
There's a whimsical balloon nearby
That sits winking down
The balloon is playfully winking at us
And inviting us to come on in
The balloon is inviting us to join in the fun
On a moonlight swim
For more fun on our romantic swim under the moonlight

Elvis is in a class all his own never compare him to anyone else, we lost a treasure when we lost him.

@Nancy Gorsuch I agree, Hon, we lost a treasure when we lost Elvis. I've been doing Elvis since the mid-50's, and still, 2021, doing the guy.
By the way, Nancy, if you're as cute as I'm guessing you are, and if you're at all into kissing girls, I'd love hearing from you. Yes, I'm bi.
