Beautiful Pain Ft Sia
Eminem Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can feel the heat risin'
Everything is on fire
Today is a painful reminder
Of why we can only get brighter
The further you put it behind ya
But right now I'm on the inside
Lookin' out, 'cause
I'm standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain
Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light
Standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain
Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

Yesterday was the tornado warning
Today's like the morning after
Your world is torn in half
You wake in its wake to start the morning process
And rebuilding, you're still a work in progress
Today's a whole new chapter, it's like an enormous ass, uh
Thunderstorm has passed ya
You weathered it and poked its eye out with the thorn bush that ya
Used to smell the roses, stopped to inhale, can't even tell your nose is stuffed
So focused on the bright side, then you floor the gas pedal
And hit the corner faster, more assertive
Never looking back, may hit the curb
But every day's a new learning curve as you steer through life
Sometimes you might not wanna swerve but you have to
To avert a disaster, lucky, no permanent damage
'Cause they hurt you so bad, it's like they murdered your ass
And threw dirt on your casket, but you returned from the ashes
And that hurt that you have, you just converted to gasoline
And while you're burning the past, standin' at inferno and chant

I'm standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain
Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light
Standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain
Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

You're so familiarized with
What having to swallow this pill is like
It happens all the time, they take your heart and steal your life
And it's as though you feel you've died
'Cause you've been killed inside
But yet you're still alive which means you will survive
Although today you may weep 'cause you're weak and
And everything seems so bleak and hopeless
The light that you're seeking, it begins to seep in
That's the only thing keepin' you from leapin' off the motherfreakin' deep end
And I'm pulling for you to push through this feeling
And with a little time that should do the healin'
And by tomorrow you may even feel so good that you're willing
To forgive 'em even after all that shit you been put through
This feeling of resilience is building and the flames are burning
Quick as fire would through this building, you're sealed in
But you're fireproof, flame retardant, you withstood it
And as you climb up to the roof, you're just chillin'
You look down 'cause you're so over 'em
You could put the heel of your foot through the ceilin'

As time passes, things change everyday
But wounds, wounds heal
But scars still remaining the same
But tomorrow, today's goin' down in flames
Throw the match, set the past ablaze

So feel the fire beneath your feet
As you barely even perspire from the heat
Exhale deep and breathe a sigh of relief
And as you say goodbye to the grief
It's like watching the walls melt in your prison cell
But you've extinguished this living hell
Still a little piece of you dies as you scream

I'm standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain
Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light
Standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain
Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

I feel the burn, watch the smoke as I turn
Rising, a phoenix from the flames
I have learned from fighting fights that weren't mine
It's not with fists, but with wings that I will fly

And I'm standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain
Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light
Standin' in the flames
And it's a beautiful kind of pain

Settin' fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

Overall Meaning

In "Beautiful Pain," Eminem explores the experience of enduring pain and finding strength and resilience in the process. He paints a vivid picture of standing in the flames, setting fire to the past, and finding the light to guide oneself through.

The first verse describes how everything around the singer is on fire and how the day is a painful reminder of why we can only get brighter. The theme of rising from the ashes is drawn out in the metaphor of burning yesterday to clear the path for a brighter future. Eminem describes being on the inside, looking out, reflecting on the process of transformation.

The second verse highlights the aftermath of a life-altering event like a natural disaster, relating it to the process of personal transformation. While rebuilding a shattered world and self, one realizes the need to steer life towards new learning curves. Facing the discomfort and pain, one must navigate beyond it to avoid permanent damage. Eminem emphasizes how even those events that hurt the most should be viewed as motivation, fuel to edify and convert into gas fuel. The last verse concludes the song highlighting how in time, it's possible to find healing and recover, although the scars may remain.

This is hands down one of my favorite songs & I don’t think that will ever change. Eminem has gotten me through so much all throughout my life & I know he has done the same for countless others. I can literally feel his pain & emotion throughout the entire song. We don’t deserve Eminem. ❤️❤️ Thanks again Em for helping me get through life with the help of your music. Here’s the lyrics just in case someone wanted them while watching the video XoXo 💋 ❤ 🥰.

Everything is on fire
Today is a painful reminder of why
We can only get brighter

But right now I'm on the inside

Your world is torn in half, you wake and let's wait to start the morning process
Rebuilding and you're still a work in progress
Today is a whole new chapter, it's like an enormous ass
The thunderstorm has passed ya
Your weather didn't poke his eyes out with the thorn bush that you
Used to smell the roses, stopped to inhale can't even tell your nose is stuffed
So focused on the brightside, then you floor the gas pedal
And hit the corner fast, the more asserted
Never looking back, may hit the curb
But everyday is a new learning curve, as you, steer through life
Sometimes you might not wanna swerve

Lyrics

[Intro: Eminem & Sia]
I can feel the heat rising
Everything is on fire
Today's a painful re-
Minder of why
It can only get brighter
The further you put it behind ya
But right now I'm on the
Inside looking out, ‘cause—

[Chorus: Sia]
I'm standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
To find the light, find the light, find the light
Standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

[Verse 1: Eminem]
Yesterday was the tornado warning, today's like the morning after
Your world is torn in half, you wake in its wake
To start the mourning process and rebuilding, you're still a work in progress
Today's a whole new chapter, it's like an enormous ass—uh
Thunderstorm has passed ya, you weathered it and poked its
Eye out with the thornbush that ya used to smell the roses
Stopped to inhale, can't even tell your nose is stuffed
So focused on the bright side then you floor the gas pedal
And hit the corner faster, more assertive, never looking back
May hit the curb, but every day's a new learning curve as ya
Steer through life, sometimes you might not wanna swerve but you have to
To avert a disaster, lucky no permanent damage
Cause they hurt you so bad it's like they murdered your ass
And threw dirt on your casket, but you've returned from the ashes
And that hurt that you have, you just converted to gasoline
And while you're burning the past, standing at inferno and chanting

[Chorus: Sia]
I'm standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
To find the light, find the light, find the light
Standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

[Verse 2: Eminem]
You're so familiarized with what having to swallow this pill is like
It happens all the time, they take your heart and steal your life
And it's as though you feel you've died, 'cause you've been killed inside
But yet you're still alive, which means you will survive
Although today you may weep ‘cause you're weak and
Everything seems so bleak and hopeless, the light that you're seeking
It begins to seep in, that's the only thing keeping
You from leaping off the mother freaking deep end
And I'm pulling for you to push through this feeling
And with a little time that should do the healing and by tomorrow
You may even feel so good that you're willing to forgive 'em
Even after all the shit you've been put through, this feeling of resilience is building
And the flames are burning quick as fire would (firewood) through this building
You're sealed in, but you're fireproof, flame retardant, you withstood it
And as you climb up to the roof, you're just chillin', you look down, ‘cause you're so over 'em
You could put the heel of your foot through the ceiling

[Bridge: Eminem]
As time passes, things change every day
But wounds, wounds heal but scars still remaining the same
But tomorrow, today's going down in flames
Throw the match, set the past ablaze

[Verse 3: Eminem]
So feel the fire beneath your feet as you barely even
Perspire from the heat, exhale deep and breathe a sigh of relief
And as you say goodbye to the grief, it's like watching the walls melt
In your prison cell, but you've extinguished this living hell
Still, a little piece of you dies as you scream—

[Chorus: Sia]
I'm standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
To find the light, find the light, find the light
Standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

[Bridge: Sia]
I feel the burn
Watch the smoke as I turn, rising
A phoenix from the flames
I have learned
From fighting fights that weren't mine
It's not with fists
But with wings that I will fly

[Chorus: Sia]
And I'm standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
To find the light, find the light, find the light
Standing in the flames
And it’s a beautiful kind of pain
Setting fire to yesterday
Find the light, find the light, find the light

when this song came out i was 19 at the lowest point at my life. i had no family i was working 7 days a week 14 hours a day depressed no one to turn to. 8 years later i’ve got my own successful business, 2 kids and a beautiful wife. this song always brings me back to them days without them i wouldn’t be where i am today. thank god🙏

@matzr3000

Your comment inspires me to keep pushing as i am in that dark place now

@ByCreations

At the same position. Lost my father recently. My sister got stuck with a abusive person and we used to listen to this all the time. Just wanna say your not alone brother. Music is the inspiration that helps people get through what they need. I pray everything is well ❤

@jamiekhan9029

@Ronnie Kemper keep pushing, if you have a dream go for it, don’t let anyone put you down believe in yourself and you will achieve everything and more. god bless❤️
