Symphony In H
Eminem Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't ask me what's up with the hoes, I'm still working the kinks out
Love stinks, that explains all this anger that's spillin' out
And I ain't chilling out. Got an Oscar but I'm still a grouch
I use it as a doorstop and a prop for the broken leg for the couch
Yelawolf, Shady, Tony-Touch, Slaughterhouse
Yeah the SWAT team 'bout to break them flyswatters out
Go to hell in a drought, break ice waters out
Nice try shorty wop, we can windowshop the jewelry store
But Christ for that price coulda bought a house
Besides only thing I ever had iced out was my heart since I started out
It’s F.Y.I, if ya ain't knowing
What, go with you? Where? Nah, ain't going
Oh wait, you wanna date? Oh, well in that case ho, it's June 8th, oh!
And kinda like Beethoven composin' a symphony of hate
So much hate woven into these raps
He stitches a bitch, straight sewin'
Shit, I'm beginning to hate clothing
I hate overalls cause they remind me of hoes
For Christ sake, they're shaped like an H woah and
You know what else starts with H though?
Hockey, shit, thought I had the place flowing
I hate to put you on ice but
You already had 3 periods in 60 minutes, great going
Plus you remind me of cocaine, ho
You always in the mirror with your face
So, I feel an urge to put you all in a line
And chop you with a razor blade, yo wait, I'm an a-hole
Devil with a halo
Hell yeah, I'd nail J-Lo to the railroad
Say I won't! Better hope you can stay afloat
When I take the wind out your sailboat

But, I ain't playing yo! Dope as Shady?
Don't kid yourself, bitch you ain't even a baby goat

Overall Meaning

In this verse of the song Symphony In H, Eminem is sharing his thoughts and feelings about various topics. He mentions that he is still working out the kinks with women, and that love is something that often causes him anger. Despite achieving an Oscar, he is still not satisfied and considers himself to be a grouch. He even uses his award as a doorstop and as support for his couch leg. He lists a group of artists, Yelawolf, Shady, Tony-Touch, and Slaughterhouse, who are about to face the consequences of their actions. Eminem then goes on to speak about wealth and how it can be spent, and how he doesn't value jewelry as much as he does a home. He mentions that he has only ever iced out his heart and not any other materialistic thing.

In the second half of the verse, Eminem speaks about his hatred for clothing and hoe-shaped overalls. He compares it to the letter H, which is also the first letter of the word "hockey." He then goes on to address a specific person, calling her a cocaine hoe and expressing an urge to line her up and chop her with a razor blade. He also mentions his devilish side and his desire to nail J-Lo to a railroad. Finally, he claims that the person he is addressing is not as dope as Shady and not even a baby goat.

The beat, the flow, the word play, the aggressiveness. Everything about this smack my ears so good.

Details about the song: This song first aired on Shade 45 radio in June 2013. This song was neither leaked nor was it unofficial. It's a fully official song released in Tony Touch's album "The Piece Maker 3: Return of the 50 MC's" in July 2013. But, what's interesting is that when it aired everyone thought this was a snippet and full version would feature on this album. Looks like everyone was wrong as the album also has a 1:29 minute long song only. Also this was a big deal back then because Eminem hadn't released an album since 2010 (not counting Bad Meets Evil's Hell: The Sequel album) and there were rumors of an upcoming album which later turned out to be MMLP2, releasing in November 2013.

@Exvilness

Wasn’t the album confirmed at that point? I remember this song as being like a “Despicable” type song where it was made to promote the album

@joshuas8582

@Emirhan Aydal you're right - the album had been announced, not the name or anything but just the fact that an album was coming

Then they asked the fans to get #SymphonyinH trending number 1 on twitter - then they realeased this on Shade45 and SoundCloud

@tasteewheat393

Not once did I think it was a snippet.. the first time I heard this I was like: finally! It was a "freestyle" back when I first heard this. And when he came out with this, I knew an album was coming out, sure enough the trailers to MMLP2 was on Air

@morotomi12

I just found this on Spotify. I have been fan since 2009 and saw EM live back in 2018. But I didnt know about this song! This is fire! 😳

@unscriptedraps2712

Why does he have to kill every beat he's on???'🔥🔥🔥🔥

@il100374

Our House, My Life, C'mon Let Me Ride, and this were our first indications that Em's delivery/flow would change forever. We just didn't know it yet...

@il100374

@Max Fed. At what point did Recovery have a robot flow? When has that ever been the consensus? What?

@scndnorth45

Max Fed. He “cries” in Revival too
