Overall Meaning

The opening lines of the song "W.E.G.O." by Eminem is a comedic skit in which the rapper is checking in on the radio station. The skit is portrayed from the perspective of a radio DJ who is introducing Eminem's song.

The acronym W.E.G.O. stands for Wicked Enjoyment Goes On. This was a reference to a show on Radio 96.1 FM in Detroit called W.E.G.O, which was hosted by James Johnson. Eminem and Proof would call into the show and freestyle, which introduced them to the local hip hop community.

The skit also introduces MC Proof, who was a close friend and collaborator of Eminem. The two rappers formed a group called Soul Intent in 1992 and released a handful of songs together. Proof was also a member of D12, a rap group that Eminem helped launch in 1996.

The song that is being introduced is "It's OK," which is a track from Eminem's independent debut album "Infinite." The album received mixed reviews and did not achieve commercial success, but it helped Eminem gain a local following in the Detroit area.

The lyrics of "W.E.G.O." and the skit are meant to be humorous and reflective of Eminem's early days in the rap game. It showcases his roots in the underground Detroit hip hop scene and how he got his start.

[Intro: Proof & Eminem]
Check it out!
Hey, Kyu!

[Hook: Eye-Kyu]
It's a broke day, but everything is okay
I'm up all night, but everything is alright
It's a rough week, and I don't get enough sleep
It's a long year, pretendin' I belong here

[Verse 1: Eminem]
One day I plan to be a family man, happily married
I wanna grow to be so old that I have to be carried
'Til I'm glad to be buried, and leave this crazy world
And have at least a half a million for my baby girl
It may be early to be plannin' this stuff
'Cause I'm still strugglin' hard to be the man, and it's tough
'Cause man, it's been rough, but still I manage enough
I've been taken advantage of
Damaged and scuffed, my hands have been cuffed
But I don't panic and huff, frantic and puff
Or plan to give up, the minute shit hits the fan, it erupts
I'm antein' up, double or nothin'
I've been troubled enough and
I'm sick of strugglin' and sufferin', see
My destiny's to rest at ease, 'til I'm impressed and pleased
With my progress, I won't settle for less than cheese
I'm on a quest to seize all, my own label to call
Way before my baby is able to crawl
I'm too stable to fall, the pressure motivates
To know I hold the weight of boulders on my shoulder blades
I see the golden gates to Heaven on Earth
Where they don't pull a weapon on you
When you're steppin' on turf, Kyu

[Hook: Eye-Kyu]
It's a broke day, but everything is okay
I'm up all night, but everything is alright
It's a rough week, and I don't get enough sleep
It's a long year, pretendin' I belong here

[Verse 2: Eminem]
I'm goin' for broke, gamblin' and playin' for keeps
Every day in the streets, scramblin' and payin' for cheep
Prayin' for sleep, dreamin' with a waterin' mouth
Wishin' for a better life for my daughter and spouse
In this slaughterin' house
Caught up in bouts with the root of all evil
I've seen it turn beautiful people crude and deceitful
And make them do shit illegal for these Grants and Jacksons
These transactions explain a man's actions
But in the midst of this insanity, I found my Christianity
Through God and there's a wish he granted me
He showed me how to cope with the stress
And hope for the best, instead of mope and depressed
Always gropin' a mess of flyin' over the nest
To sellin' dope with the rest
I quit smokin' cess to open my chest
Life is stressful inside this cesspool
Tryin' to wrestle, I almost bust a blood vessel
My little brother's tryin' to learn his mathematics
He's asthmatic, runnin' home
From school away from crack addicts
Kids attract static, children with automatics
Takin' target practice on teens for Starter jackets
I'm usin' smarter tactics to overcome this slum
I won't become as dumb as some and succumb to scum
It's cumbersome, I'm tryin' to do well on this Earth
But it's been hell on this Earth since I fell on this Earth

@ThisImmortalCoil - JFC I hope your high AF right now otherwise you need to stop eating crayons and put your helmet on! Kayne West is best known for his fine ass wife's booty (even if Ray Jay hit it first) and being a DBag for jumping on stage in front of Taylor Swift. I literally could not name a single song of his! He is a straight tool. That's just my opinion tho - here are the facts:

-Slim has 10 number one selling ALBUMS!
-Slims won 131 major awards (298 nominations) in the US including 15 Grammys and an Oscar! The only other rappers that have an Oscar are the group Three Six Mafia.
-Slims won 20 (nominated 41) International awards.
-Guess who is the second best selling artist of all-time only behind Garth Brooks? You GD right - It's B Rabbit himself!

Well known? Just a little. Influential? Did I mention he's white?!? Before slim there was another white rapper - his name was Vanilla Ice. It took Slim way longer to make it big than it should have because he sucked so bad! Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch didn't help either. Slim has carved the path for all the white rappers you hear today - MGK, Ritz, Yelawolf, Maclemore, G-Easy, Immortal Technique and many others. That's influence son!

8==✊==D💦Kayne💦

Dude you must be either younger than 14 years or in floating around in outer space with that shit! Kayne Kardashian 😂😂

It's a broke day but everything is ok (It's ok)
I'm up all night, but everything is alright (It's alright)
It's a rough week, and I don't get enough sleep (I can't sleep)

It's a long year pretending I belong here (Belong here)

1: Eminem
One day I plan to be a family man happily married
I wanna grow to be so old that I have to be carried
Till I'm glad to be buried
And leave this crazy world
And have at least a half a million for my baby girl
It may be early to be planning this stuff
Cause I'm still struggling hard to be the man, and it's tough
Cause man it's been rough, but still I manage enough
I've been taken advantage of, damaged and scuffed
My hands have been cuffed
But I don't panic and huff, frantic and puff
Or plan to give up, the minute shit hits the fan it erupts
I'm anteing up double or nothing, I've been trouble enough
And I'm sick of struggling and suffering, see
My destiny's to rest at ease, till I'm impressed and pleased
With my progress, I won't settle for less than cheese
I'm on a quest to seize all, my own label to call
Way before my baby is able to crawl
I'm too stable to fall, the pressure motivates
To know I hold the weight of boulders on my shoulder blades

I seen the golden gates to heaven on Earth
Where they don't pull a weapon on you when you stepping on turf, Q

Eye-Kyu:

2: Eminem
I'm going for broke, gambling and playing for keeps
Everyday in the streets, scrambling and paying for cheep
Praying for sleep
Dreaming with a watering mouth
Wishing for a better life for my daughter and spouse
In this slaughtering house, caught up in bouts
With the root of all evil
I've seen it turn beautiful people crude and deceitful
And make them do shit illegal
For these Grant's and Jackson's
These transactions explain a man's actions
But in the mist of this insanity, I found my Christianity
Through God and there's a wish he granted me
He showed me how to cope with the stress
And hope for the best, instead of mope and depressed
Always groping a mess, of flying over the nest
To selling dope with the rest
I quit smoking cess to open my chest
Life is stressful inside this cesspool
Trying to wrestle, I almost bust a blood vessel
My little brother's trying to learn his mathematics
He's asthmatic, running home from school away from crack addicts
Kids attract static, children with automatics
Taking target practice on teens for Starter Jackets

I'm using smarter tactics to overcome this slum
I won't become as dumb as some and succumb to scum
It's cumbersome, I'm trying to do well on this Earth
But it's been Hell on this Earth since I fell on this Earth

Eye-Kyu:

Uh, it's ok, yeah it's alright, even though I can't sleep
Uh yeah, it's ok, it's alright, I can't sleep

The rhyme scheme in his early stuff is near perfection from a poetry stand point. It's grade A lyrical wise.

@quickstep2408

The only better than Eminem on this album was K rino MF DOOM and GZA and that's a very good list of people to be next to this and the slim shady ep was eminem at his best

Eminem has an unmistakable flow, I love this album I can't believe iv never listened to it, I started at 7 with the real slim shady on tv and now kamikaze 20 years later, he's the hardest working mc

@Genesis817

This song had me in tears some years ago. When you're in the ghetto these songs resonate. Some of his best work ever. A young man trying to climb out the shit hole and breathe better.

@cheese7960

Would do so much for an original copy of this album
