Glory Days
Enisa Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Walking with my head held down, just tryna avoid the crowd, oh
One hand on the glass bottle and the others would follow, oh
All this smoke strikin' my damn face, I don't feel nothing but sorrow
Now I'm seeing, now I'm seeing, now I'm seeing that y'all nowhere
It's a been a few years now
Now I'm feeling, now I'm feeling, now I'm feeling
And I know it, and I know it, and I know it
Y'all hurting
For awhile you been lost
For all those times you thought you ran the world
Your glory days are now gone, gone
Your glory days are now gone, gone
Walking through these old memories where I'd feel so apart
I never fit the normal crowd, never drank or smoked at all, oh
They always talked to me, couldn't understand why I never followed, oh
Too much pride in my damn self, don't need to feed no ego, oh
Now I'm seeing, now I'm seeing, now I'm seeing that y'all nowhere
It's a been a few years now
Now I'm feeling, now I'm feeling, now I'm feeling
Like your glory days have now gone
And I know it, and I know it, and I know it
Y'all hurting
For awhile you been lost
For all those times you thought you ran the world
Your glory days are now gone, gone
Your glory days are now gone, gone
Oh, I'ma break it down right now for all the kids who were pushed around
Oh, I'ma break it down right now for all those nights in tears they drowned
Oh, I'ma break it down right now for all the strength in pain they found
Oh child, I'ma sing for you, sing it loud for you, sing it loud for you, oh-oh
Now I'm seeing, now I'm seeing, now I'm seeing that y'all nowhere
It's a been a few years now
Now I'm feeling, now I'm feeling, now I'm feeling
Like your glory days have now gone
And I know it, and I know it, and I know it
Y'all hurting
For awhile you been lost
For all those times you thought you ran the world
Your glory days are now gone, gone
Your glory days are now gone, gone
The lyrics of Enisa's "Glory Days" talk about a woman who has left her past behind and has come to realize that the people who she thought were "cool kids" and who she tried so hard to impress are nowhere to be found. She used to walk with her head held down, trying to avoid the crowd, and drink from a glass bottle while surrounded by smoke that made her feel nothing but sorrow. Now, as she looks back on her past, she sees that her own "glory days" are gone, and that the people she used to hang out with are hurting just as much as she is. She sings about how she never fit in with the "normal crowd", never smoked, and has too much pride to feed her ego.
As the song progresses, Enisa breaks it down and sings for all the people who have been pushed around, who have drowned in tears, and who have found strength through their pain. She sings that the glory days of those who thought they ran the world are now gone, and that they have been lost for a while. In other words, this song is about finding yourself and growing up, moving on from the past, and realizing that the people who you thought were "cool" and who you tried so hard to impress are not worth your time. It's a song about letting go and realizing that your own happiness is more important than pleasing others.
