Entombed's debut album was Left Hand Path, a cult favorite that established the band as a popular death metal band. The follow-up, Clandestine, was just as popular. These first two albums were unique in that they featured what was sometimes referred to as a "chainsaw" guitar sound which became a staple of Swedish death metal worldwide. It was created using the Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal and a Peavey amplifier. This iconic guitar tone spawned the niche sub-genre referred to as 'entombedcore' which consists of just hardcore bands using the infamous chainsaw tone as part of their sound.
After the Gods of Grind tour, Entombed began changing their sound into a mix of groove metal, hard rock and death metal frequently called death n roll. Although this may have turned off many fans, it established their mainstream and critical reputation. Wolverine Blues and Hollowman are widely considered classics of early 1990s death metal, but were followed by problems with various record companies.
In 1999, Entombed released Uprising, which was an anti-commercial return to the band's roots. The follow-up, Morning Star returned to Hollowman and Wolverine Blues style metal. They have since released 2003's album Inferno, a continuation of the 'death n roll' style that has become their trademark sound.
2006 saw the release of new music from Entombed, with the When in Sodom EP on June 6 (or 06/06/06), and the full length album Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments was released on July 9th, 2007. This album is the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (of Alpha Safari and ex-Misery Loves Co.), who replaced long-time drummer Peter Stjärnvind in 2006.

Fractures
Entombed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
These are my demands
It is my new face
It's where I stand
This is not a lecture to increase your wealth
And it's not a permit to only think for yourself
I'd like to see you corrected
What is not believed in
I'm glad to be of use
What is not in need for
Still a bit obtuse
My independence is my dependence
It's my only option
It's all that makes sense
Your basic standards
The thorn in your side
The technology that you're imprisoned by
I'd like to see you corrected
I'd like to see you destroyed
What is not believed in
I'm glad to be of use
What is not in need for
Still a bit obtuse
What is not believed in
In these fractured skulls
What is not in need for
Of these poor old gulls
In Entombed's song "Fractures," the singer declares their independence and individuality, acknowledging that their current form is new and different from before. They distance themselves from materialism by stating that their message is not a lecture intended to increase wealth, nor is it an excuse to solely focus on oneself. Instead, they indicate a desire to correct and destroy those who stand in opposition to what they believe in. While the singer sees themselves as an instrument in the service of what is needed, they also recognize that their actions may not be understood by all.
The lyrics challenge the listener's way of thinking by indirectly attacking what the singer perceives to be their "basic standards" and the "technology that [they're] imprisoned by." The cautious lyrics involve the notion of individuality and issues regarding technological advancements. In this song, Entombed is expressing their strong sense of individuality and their opposition to what they see as conformity and a lack of independent thought. They seek to expose flaws in societal norms and dismantle them, offering an alternative way of thinking that favors independence and critical thinking.
Overall, "Fractures" can be interpreted as a song that preaches self-expression, independence, and disavows superficiality while advocating for a more holistic and thoughtful worldview.
