Entombed's debut album was Left Hand Path, a cult favorite that established the band as a popular death metal band. The follow-up, Clandestine, was just as popular. These first two albums were unique in that they featured what was sometimes referred to as a "chainsaw" guitar sound which became a staple of Swedish death metal worldwide. It was created using the Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal and a Peavey amplifier. This iconic guitar tone spawned the niche sub-genre referred to as 'entombedcore' which consists of just hardcore bands using the infamous chainsaw tone as part of their sound.
After the Gods of Grind tour, Entombed began changing their sound into a mix of groove metal, hard rock and death metal frequently called death n roll. Although this may have turned off many fans, it established their mainstream and critical reputation. Wolverine Blues and Hollowman are widely considered classics of early 1990s death metal, but were followed by problems with various record companies.
In 1999, Entombed released Uprising, which was an anti-commercial return to the band's roots. The follow-up, Morning Star returned to Hollowman and Wolverine Blues style metal. They have since released 2003's album Inferno, a continuation of the 'death n roll' style that has become their trademark sound.
2006 saw the release of new music from Entombed, with the When in Sodom EP on June 6 (or 06/06/06), and the full length album Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments was released on July 9th, 2007. This album is the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (of Alpha Safari and ex-Misery Loves Co.), who replaced long-time drummer Peter Stjärnvind in 2006.

Kick Out the Jams
Entombed Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Well, I feel pretty good and I guess that I could get crazy now, baby.
Cause we all got in tune and when the
Dressing room got hazy now, baby.
I know how you want it, child,
Hot, sweet, and tight.
The girls can't stand it when you doin' it right,
And let me kick out the jams, yes!
Kick out the jams.
I want to kick 'em out!
Yes, I'm startin' to sweat,
You know my shirt's all wet.
What a feelin'.
And the sound that abounds and
Resounds and rebounds off the ceiling.
You gotta have it baby, you can't do without,
When you get the feelin', you got the sound above.
Put that mike in my hand
And let me kick out the jams, yes!
Kick out the jams.
I want to kick 'em out!
So you gotta get it up, you know ya
Can't get enough, miss Mackenzie.
Well, it gets in your brain,
It drives you insane with a frenzy.
The wailing guitars, girl, the crash of the drums,
Makes me want to keep a-rockin' till the morning comes.
Let me be who I am.
And let me kick out the jams, yes!
Kick out the jams.
I done kicked 'em out!
The song "Kick Out the Jams" by Entombed is originally performed by MC5, and the lyrics depict the feeling of a performer on stage. The first few lines express how the performer feels good and ready to go crazy on stage. As the dressing room gets hazy, the performance begins to get more and more intense. The performer then talks about how they know what the audience wants, hot and tight music, and they proceed to deliver just that with their sound. They start to sweat and feel the music as it reverberates around the room. The performer then asks for the microphone to be put in their hand as they yell for the audience to join them and "kick out the jams". The song keeps going with more intense vocals and driving guitars and drums until it comes to an end with the performer feeling like they've done their job and "kicked out the jams".
