Entombed's debut album was Left Hand Path, a cult favorite that established the band as a popular death metal band. The follow-up, Clandestine, was just as popular. These first two albums were unique in that they featured what was sometimes referred to as a "chainsaw" guitar sound which became a staple of Swedish death metal worldwide. It was created using the Boss Heavy Metal distortion pedal and a Peavey amplifier. This iconic guitar tone spawned the niche sub-genre referred to as 'entombedcore' which consists of just hardcore bands using the infamous chainsaw tone as part of their sound.
After the Gods of Grind tour, Entombed began changing their sound into a mix of groove metal, hard rock and death metal frequently called death n roll. Although this may have turned off many fans, it established their mainstream and critical reputation. Wolverine Blues and Hollowman are widely considered classics of early 1990s death metal, but were followed by problems with various record companies.
In 1999, Entombed released Uprising, which was an anti-commercial return to the band's roots. The follow-up, Morning Star returned to Hollowman and Wolverine Blues style metal. They have since released 2003's album Inferno, a continuation of the 'death n roll' style that has become their trademark sound.
2006 saw the release of new music from Entombed, with the When in Sodom EP on June 6 (or 06/06/06), and the full length album Serpent Saints - The Ten Amendments was released on July 9th, 2007. This album is the group's first release with drummer Olle Dahlstedt (of Alpha Safari and ex-Misery Loves Co.), who replaced long-time drummer Peter Stjärnvind in 2006.

[Original title - "Under The Sun , Every Day Comes And Goes"]
Well I don't want no demon to tell me what it's all about
No black magician telling me to get my soul out
Don't believe in violence, I don't even believe in peace
I've opened the door and my mind has been released
No I don't want no one to tell me where I'm gonna go when I die
I wanna live my life with no people telling me what to do
I just believe in myself, 'cause no one else is true
Every day just comes and goes
Life is one big overdose
People try to ruin me
And I can't seem to eliminate them
People riding their real pace
Keep on running their rat race
The ante is risen once a week
In their world of make-believe
So believe what I tell you, it's the only way to fight in the end
Just believe in yourself, you know you really shouldn't have to pretend
Don't let those empty people try and interfere with your mind
Just live your life and leave them all behind
The song "Under the Sun" by Entombed is originally performed by Black Sabbath with the original title "Under the Sun, Every Day Comes and Goes". The lyrics of the song express a strong desire to be free from external influences and to live life on one's own terms. The singer rejects the influence of demons, magicians, preachers, and other people who try to tell him what to do or how to live his life.
The singer also expresses a deep skepticism toward violence and peace, rejecting both as false ideals that do not align with his view of the world. Instead, he values his own ability to make his own decisions and believes that he is the only true authority in his life. He acknowledges the harsh realities of life, including the presence of people who try to ruin him, but he remains committed to living his life on his own terms.
Overall, the song presents a powerful message of individualism and self-reliance, encouraging listeners to reject external influences and trust in themselves to navigate the challenges of life.
