Gin House Blues
Eric Burdon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Stay away from me everybody, 'cause I'm in my sin
I said, stay away from me everybody, 'cause I'm in my sin
You know I'm beggin' you, somebody give me my gin.
Stay away from me, unless you wanta big fight
Stay away from me everybody, unless you wanta get involved in a fight
I'll fight the army and the Royal navy if I don't get some gin tonight
Hey, when I'm feeling high, everythings all right
Hey, when I'm feelin' high, everything is really all right
Gin is gonna be my wife for the rest of my life
Give me my gin
I can get a drink of gin, well, almost any old time
I can get myself a drink of gin, yeah,
Yeah, well, almost any old time
If I can't get myself a drink of gin
I guess I'll have to settle for red wine
I said stay away from me, unless you wanta start a fight
Yeah, stay away from me everybody unless you wanta start a big fight
I'll fight the army and the navy if I don't get myself some gin tonight.
Now now now, listen to me baby, hey, stay away from me everybody, 'cause I'm in my sin
Whoa, stay away from me everybody, 'cause I'm in the sin baby

I'll fight the army and the navy
Somebody, somewhere, give me my gin.

Overall Meaning

The song "Gin House Blues" by Eric Burdon & The Animals is a classic blues song about a man who is lost in his addiction to gin. He warns everyone to stay away from him as he is deep in his sin and urges someone to give him his gin. He is ready to fight anyone who stands in his way of getting his precious gin. He believes that everything is alright when he has gin and that it will be his wife for the rest of his life. The man claims that he can get a drink of gin anytime, and if he can't get it, he will settle for red wine. The song ends with him pleading with someone to give him his gin.

The lyrics paint a vivid picture of a man lost in his addiction to gin, and his desperation can be felt throughout the song. It is a testament to the power of addiction and the hold it can have on a person. The song also touches on the themes of loneliness and desperation, and the lengths people will go to satisfy their cravings.

Excelente pieza muy bien tocada

The twin lead guitar attack of the New Animals was great in live gigs, Vic Briggs has brilliant, and young John Weider amazing. Their non-organ version of "House of the Rising Sun" done justice, with two weaving guitars. but, Where is it? The tightest Animals lineup, bar none. Enjoy.

I got some live recordings of them playing Rising Sun, but it is terrible audio quality. I know there is FILMING FOOTAGE of Eric Burdon & The Animals playing Rising Sun, at the Flower Children Festival 1967. No idea who got the tape, hope they'll release it..
