I Want To Know
Eric Clapton and The Powerhouse Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I want a little girl, call my own.
She must be someone who's all alone now.
Say, I want a little girl to fall in love with me, oh yeah.

I want a little girl, but she may not look
Just like a picture in a story book.
If she can cook chicken, yeah, she'll suit me to a T.
And she don't have to wave her hair
Or even wear fancy clothes, I wouldn't even care.
She don't wear nylon hose, oh.

I want a little girl to love a lot.

You know that I'd give her everything I got.
I want a little girl to fall in love with me.

There was a piano player on these Elektra records compilation featuring Clapton , Winwood and Jack Bruce , he was Ben Palmer and he lived just up the road from us near Rhayader , mid Wales . . . . . Ben passed away recently . . .i would like to thank all those white guys pursuing the blues in 1960's Britain that has led to so much good music . . .and RIP for Ben Palmer .

Ben Palmer is present in the LIFE IN 12 BARS documentary all the time. Ever-friend of Eric 's.

I bought this album back in 1969 when I was studying in Wales.❤ A strange mixture of artists, but I loved it so.

It's a shame they only recorded three songs stepping out I want to know and Crossroads. I would have liked to have seen them record more what a shame

@borriffick

Apparently there's a fourth unreleased "slow blues" song sitting in a vault somewhere from this group. Probably going to end up on a box set when Clapton kicks the bucket (hopefully he lives forever though).
