He was ranked in the top twenty poets at the 2004 NPS, and was one of seven National Finalists in 2005.
Eric is a past host of the Detroit and Lizard Lounge Poetry Slams. His work has been included in four spoken word anthologies, and two jazz/poetry albums released by Poetry Jam/Rounder Records. He is currently pursuing his MFA at Syracuse University, where he is a Creative Writing Fellow. His CD/chapbook The Secret Dream-lives of Engineers is available from The Wordsmith Press.

"Tip 'em if you can." For some reason, that line resonates really well with me. It embodies something near and dear to me, but I can't seem to articulate what it is. I think this poem is a success because of this: it elicits a feeling, and a damned good one, at that.

I love this. I watch it so many times, I practically have it memorized. It gives me hope, encourages me and makes me smile and get goosebumps every time I hear it. This poem is phenomenal
