Hey Travis! There's a quote about the evolution of Art that you spoke of in one of your lectures, about how art used to be for the amusement of the audience to how it has become for the bewilderment of the audience and amusement of the artist. something on those lines. i'm trying to find it. i think it was by Paul cezzane! Could you please point me ot where it is! Thank you and I love your videos! <3

I am taking a hybrid class (Renaissance to Modern), where there are a lot of writing assignments and online discussions, but no lectures. Dr. TLC you are really my professor. After I read the book, I always watch your videos to bring it all together.

Van Gogh wanted to be on the spot to paint whereas Gauguin wanted to use memory and they tended to crash in the aspect of painting exploration. After 1890 the paintings of Van Gogh was copied by others. Good talk and the years concerning modern art just exploded into various forms of expression.

A lot of errors in this presentation... one of the most frustrating is that the room in 47:00 is Van Gogh room in Arles not in the asylum or the sunflowers are not from the last works (that were in Auverse) but they were made before the arrival of Gauguin in Arles, and so and so...

There are so many conflicting stories about the lives of the artists that it all becomes so much crap. No one can know the truth about them from hearsay. So, let's forget the melodrama and focus on the work itself.
