Keith The Music
Every Time I Die Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Stutter step to the beat of a disparaged lover.
Dumb and pulsing we've become.
The bedroom door is an old black lung.
It's arrhythmic.
Uninviting and pliable.
With the noble irreverence of shrapnel she came for us.
Bore into our heads and found thoughtlessness.
Never minded the faithless courage of shame or the bravery of oblivion, When I'm on her mind I'm never coming back.
If two timing is what it takes then we both know one take is all we need.
We're not equipped to stay unloved.
But it's all we've got and we're not at all alright
Come on baby and give me the creeps.
Either you or I or both must go.
Either you or I or both must go.
When I'm on her mind I'm never coming back.
If two timing is what it takes then we both know one take is all we need.
We're not equipped to stay unloved.
But it's all we've got and we're not at all alright.
There's no difference between being holy and alone.
That's why I'm eagerly fleeing the scene.
Lead footed.
Baby return the favor and leave somebody you love.
If they come back they're drunk and they're lonely.
We all get lonely.
God forbid we indulge when at sea.
Just the tempest, the temptress, and me.
Naturally a born thriller.
Nobody knows the trouble I've been or the exacting improvement of sin.
I'm handing myself over.
I'm turning myself in
War has no glory like a woman ignored.
So here's to the empires polluted with dead.
And the truckers' wives who erected them.

I know the stripper's real name.(4x)
Stop me if I'm wrong.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Keith The Music" by Every Time I Die explore the complex emotions of a tumultuous romantic relationship. The singer describes the experience of trying to keep up with a lover who is constantly changing their feelings and desires. The line "stutter step to the beat of a disparaged lover" suggests that the singer is struggling to keep pace with their partner's shifting moods. The singer also acknowledges their own shortcomings, describing themselves as "dumb and pulsing."

The song's chorus, which repeats the lines "when I'm on her mind I'm never coming back / if two timing is what it takes then we both know one take is all we need / we're not equipped to stay unloved / but it's all we've got and we're not at all alright," underscores the sense of desperation and instability underlying the relationship. The singer knows that their partner is not fully committed to the relationship, but they are too invested in the partnership to let it go.

The song's imagery is often violent and unsettling, with references to shrapnel, tempests, and war. This imagery reinforces the idea that the relationship is not stable or healthy, but it is all-consuming nonetheless. The line "war has no glory like a woman ignored" suggests that the singer feels trapped in this cycle of passion and pain.

Agreed. True, there is a distinction between true ETID fans and fans of a few songs. Real ETID fans are all brothers. This band fucking rules. Can't wait to see them again. And this version is alot better then Gerard Way's.

Super-Ultra

That could explain the intelligently written songs... but Keith a teacher? He'd be the coolest teacher EVER.
