Remembering film crew names after 18 years is a classy move. Leaving Hollywood after playing a dream role speaks to how tough it must've been. It's all heartbreaking. Reading about the actor of Jar Jar Binks, who almost committed suicide because of all the hatred, and especially Jake Lloyd (young Anakin) who was an actual child and had essentially his whole life ruined by the bullying... and the fans have learned nothing, the actors in the sequels once again were victims of their targeted harrassement campaigns, for the horrible crime of... starring in a movie those fans didn't like very much I guess. It's so cruel and pathetic.

I love how when Hayden says "Thomas" and Ewan's face lights up like hes right back in the moment. Respect for remembering his name as well. I'm sure there was a lot of crew on set and to remember someones name especially 20 years later shows how the actors respected everyone on the crew.

It was funny how much was said about him, in those Ahsoka scenes. Dont get me wrong, I never watched the cartoons, so my scope of their relationship is extremely limited. In addition to not really being the target "fanbase" for Star Wars.

However, showing him being both compassionate and hard on her... all of it. Showing both his affection for her, but also that he's willing to drive the lesson. Like damn, what an awesome mentor.

Even his movements, where he was blending both, what he used when he was young, but also retaining what he utilized as Darth Vader, blending between the two, seamlessly and dispatching someone like Ahsoka, without actually trying.

Both examples kind of showing that in death, it isnt whether he is Anakin of Darth Vader... that he's both. And maybe that's ok... seemingly having absorbed both of those identities into his being. Instead of exalting one and demonizing the other. Where so much was conveyed in those short scenes and Hayden pulled them off flawlessly.

I feel like their strength was that they had their entire story planned in advance and had an overarching vision. The original trilogy had major plot points that were improvised (like Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader being the same person, Darth Vader being Luke's father, Luke and Leia being twin sisters, etc...). The sequel trilogy was even worse in that regard.

I really feel this so much. My dad introduced me to the original trilogy when I was like 8 or 9, because it was a series he really enjoyed and he thought I was old enough to mostly understand them, and thought I would enjoy them too. And here were are, 20+ years later, and Star Wars is my absolute favorite movie/show/game franchise of all time, by far. Suffice to say, my dad was right. Star Wars will always be more than just a movie series, or a TV series, or whatever. I remember when seeing either the second or third movie of the sequel trilogy, and knowing how poorly received those movies were - because of this, social media and the like, no one has to wonder how people feel about movies nowadays, it's quite obvious - and while the sequels were not our favorites, it was still so exciting to see them in theaters because, "it's still Star Wars." It's the universe they create, the stories told in them - just like what Hayden and Ewan mentioned in this video, it's the getting lost in that universe and those stories. I'm very excited and happy they went with these TV shows now, because they've done some amazing work with them. My dad and I don't get to watch them together like we have with all the Disney theatrical movie releases, but we're always talking about each new epsiode the week they come out, sharing our theories about what's next, sharing what we loved about each episode. My dad just last weekend asked me when the next new show or movie is coming out since Ahsoka just ended, we're counting down the days already lol.

@mataloce the 3rd movie the only one that focuses on actual character development with a more solid story. The third movie was decent at best. Mediocre by majority. That being the only one that knows how to actually be a film doesn’t mean the other two were any good. Hayden shined in that last one cause 1, he’s a great actor. Multiple other films prove this and 2. It was actually a decent script, not great, not good, not the worst, but decent.

@Saucelockdown Hey, if you found the change from bright young Jedi Anakin to child murdering Sith Anakin/Darth Vader believable and good, good for you, but that didn't convince me. Hardly anyone I know found this transition comprehensible or credible, it seemed as if something had been left out. And this lack of love and lifelessness unfortunately characterizes the majority of the two "new" trilogies. This isn't a criticism of the actor, it's a criticism of the script and of George Lucas, who obviously lied when he said he planned the Star Wars story longer and in more detail from the start. Like I said, I found the prequel very disappointing and it only comes across as half decent when compared to the new trilogy. But both trilogies stand more for Lucas' creative end and Disney's greed for money than for Star Wars.

These two were my childhood idols. As much as there was criticism thrown at the prequels, me as the 10 year old boy that I was back then, didn't know any of it and was just glued to the screen the entirety of the movies. I remember watching them from my parents' old tube TV and while the quality wasn't anything compared to modern day television, I thought the prequels were the coolest shit ever, better than the originals even. Even to this day, I still love those movies, and while there are things that could have been done better in some instances, those flaws take none of my enjoyment away and I still consider them to be the thing that made me passionate about Star Wars.

To be honest I watched the prequels first. They were brand new to me and how the story went, afterwards I watched the sequels. I loved them all. The acting, fighting scenes, comic scenes and everything. I still love them to this day. I can even memorize word for word the lines in all six movies.
For me Anakin Skywalker was the Chosen One
Obi-wan Kenobi was the Greatest Master Jedi
Luke Skywalker was the Savior
I have many fond memories and they still continue to grow to this day.

By the way I am 23 years old, turning 24 this coming February. I may be an adult but I am still a kid at heart and love all my childhood memories, shows, books, and films. ❤

I grew up watching IV-VI as a kid, but I was a young adult when I-III came out, and I remember being in the theater with my mom for each one and us going home talking about each movie every time. Hadyden and Ewan were incredible in every one of them. I've since read many of the books and watched so much - I can't get enough of Hayden Christensen, he is forever Vader for me.

I'm really happy that George Lucas, Hayden Christensen, Ewan McGregor and the prequels have been "rehabilitated" in the last decade as an entire generation came of age and was able to reevaluate them and have a voice online. I think the sequel trilogy's controversial reception played a part in looking back at the prequels.

I also agree that Vader is one of if not THE GREATEST villain in cinema history. Because on the surface he's just this HORRIBLE EVIL guy who turned against everyone he ever knew. But then if you look deeper, he's ALSO this sort of "reluctant" villain. A guy who became the villain NOT because he WANTED to, but because he was essentially forced AND tricked into becoming one. At first he thought he HAD to, then he thought he had NO CHOICE to be one. Because even later, after he had become Vader he STILL had good in him and he STILL had feelings of regret, something that a TRUE villain doesn't have. Vader is deeper than just the essential bad guy being the bad guy out of greed or self service. He's not like your typical Leather Face, Jason or other bad guy who does the things they do for seemingly no reason.

Hayden seems like just a dude you'd be friends with. I know he left Hollywood because of the hate, but I'm glad he knows he's loved and has returned.

I love the fact that these guys worked together again. I'm 30 and RotS is my favorite Star Wars movie and I'm so happy seeing Hayden get the credit he deserves. I've had a crush on this man since 2005 and seeing that he likes pineapple on pizza made me love him even more lol.

I think Ewan’s spot on with the idea that for the generation they made it for, it was well loved. There just wasn’t a convenient medium for us to vocalize it yet.

It’s also quite clear that George understood this both intuitively and to some extent, he did pursue Star Wars Animated Series for 7 seasons. This was my journey as a Star Wars fan grew up loving episode 1-3, watched it in theaters, watched the animated series, played the video games, and bought countless toys. If not for the prequels, I would not love Star Wars as much.

Its great so see them back togehter. Gives me a lot of nice memories of my childhood. My best friend and me played Star Wars with sticks or on Playstation and because he was the Anakin fan and I prefered Obi Wan we never struggled to choose characters. What an iconic duo!

@mista schaub yeah back during episode 2 and 3, quite a few of the fanbase specifically targeted him because of the lines he had to read for those films, after revenge of the sith, the hate from the fanbase got so bad for him, he basically for a time quit Hollywood and the large fame, did smaller roles and bought a farm and went off the grid for a time.

As a Mexican, im so far of the englishspeaker fanbase of Star Wars, and thats why i never noticed that people in other countries thought that Hayden was a bad actor. When i realized about that i was like WTF!!!!!
Just look the Hayden's personality, its WIDE different from Anakin, so calm and introvert, but cool at the same time. And that tell us that Hayden is an awesome actor!!!
In the other hand, i see Ewan and i absolutely can see Obi-Wan. Theres no big differences between the actor and the character.

Anyway, im very happy to see how Star Wars cast and universe is growing very respectfuly about the precuels. I really hope to see more of these two guys in future movies or series.

It's good to see him find some positivity on the Anakin/Vader role. It was good to see the dialog between him and Obi-Wan, even though the series should have focused on that. But, I'll take what I can get. As a fan I've learned to accept and take any scenes or moments of cinematic competence.

since i was born in 2001, i have always loved the prequel trilogy. anakin has been my favorite star wars character just because of how Hayden has played him. i remember, while growing up, a huge chunk of the og star wars fans were always talking shit about him. it's nice he's finally being given so much love because Hayden is such a damn good actor and an even better person. he's so quiet, humble, and thoughtful. seeing these 2 legends in the same room in 2022/2023 has made me emotional countless times now

Star wars was the first story/film series or even media to really make feel strong emotions for characters. I was a child/early teen when I watched the prequels, and Anakin was my favourite character by far, played and watched everything Star Wars back then. And even now I’m 23 like a decade later Star Wars and the character of Anakin still makes me react emotionally and takes me back to when I first watched it

Hayden has a lot of backstory’s of him on set with the cast and crew. He received so much backlash for the prequel movies and really didn’t get another chance to shine. He should’ve been given more chances but he decided to back off and bought a ranch. Dude was a good person. Much love to him

I rewatched randomly the one scene of the revenge of the sith where the scared little kids felt the instant relieve seeing Anakin supposedly coming to their rescue but than quickly realize that their hero, idol and mentor is about to kill them... as a kid i did not think much about it back then. But man as an adult it hit me so many levels. I even got the chills now thinking about it. Not enough beeing killed. Killed by the one you admire and respect like a father figure.... jeeeeez

I always liked the prequels, the acting and story. At the time you already knew where it was going but how it went was up for debate. The actors of that film did the best they could with what they had and did it well. People shit on the prequels way too much. Probably because certain fanfictions didn't go a certain way.
