Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue
Exposé Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You should hear what they're sayin' about you
You should see the way they talk behind my back
They say that you found another and that you're gonna leave
But you wouldn't do that to me, so

[Chorus]
Say it ain't true,
The things that they've been sayin'
They say that you found someone new
But don't break my heart (don't break my heart)
'Cause your baby never looked good in blue
Your baby never looked good in blue

In the mornin', starin' into your eyes,
Your eyes look everywhere, everywhere but mine (everywhere but mine)
And, darlin', I've got a feelin' that the tears are gonna start
And losin' you would tear my world apart, so

[Chorus]

Tell me (tell me) you still love me
Show me (show me) you're still mine
Don't tell me there's somebody new
'Cause you don't wanna see your baby cry

Oh
No no no no no

[Chorus]

[Repeat: x2]
Your baby never looked good in blue

......MMMMM, the memories, kids, the memories...may I indulge? ; )

This was a 'special' video, filmed on a limited tour they did, for their VHS (!) Video Collection, "EXPOSE: Video Exposure"....also, it was to show that they can SING, and are actual performers; around this time, there were rumblings about Milli Vanilli not singing ANY of their songs (...that whole shebang blew UP and OUT, Oct. of 1990), and, EVERYONE became under fire....people were even accusing Whitney as a fake lip-syncer! : O

Expose then worked with Barry Manilow, singing backup on 'Jingle Bells' for his 1990 Christmas Album, and, it was all well and good; until Gioia left in 1991, because of a throat condition, that rendered her unable to sing ever again.....ONLY to appear a the lead vocalist of HARD ROCK band, in 1992!!

....I was working at a Sam Goody, and My Floor Manager gave me a promo 8x 10 press release & CD of the Band, and I screamed, "OH MY GOD, THAT'S GIOIA, SHE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SINGING!!".... a-HAAA, BUSTED!!

.....but, these gals delivered the GOODS then, and I wouldn't look good in BLUE, without them!

Wow. Expose was the group in the '80s/early '90s. They NEVER got the respect they deserved.

@marksouthcott2740

Their #17 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 from 1990

@BillG37

Awesome song, and Jeanette's voice is one of my favorite female voices!!!  :)

@shihlin1

AH, childhood memories when Expose ruled the airwaves.
I remember their first radio song "Come Go With Me", but "Seasons Change" put them on the map.
Radio played their songs until "I Wish the Phone Would Ring" in 92.
Sure miss listening to their songs on the radio

@vivsleigh2054

One of the best girl groups of all times. Luv then!!

@3x157

Very smart move to go from dance to ballads in the early 90s. It worked in their favor

@horserun2551

This song is so full of emotion with Jeanette providing the vocals. Her vocal in this song is amazingly fitting.

@hitmangfx7162

I think it's fair to say they out-Bangled the Bangles in this one. The vocal harmonies are to die for.

@billsgwn

The Bangles can hold their own as both groups were awesome
