C Duncan
FOR Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We came so by to the sea silently,
So when we go to the sea soundlessly.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.

Say when e co by on a pa say ne fo by,
And when we go by on a so, on a so.
(Whistle)

I'll shed my silence on the sea silently,
And when we go shed your waves soundlessly.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.

Say when e co by on a pa say ne fo by,
And when we go by on a so, on a so.

(Whistle)

We came so by to the sea silently,
So when we go to the sea soundlessly.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.
Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.

(Say in any yuh puh puh puh, say in any yuh puh puh puh).
(Say in any yuh puh puh puh, say in any yuh puh puh puh).

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to FOR's song "C Duncan" describe the peacefulness and serenity that can be found by the sea. The first two lines emphasize the quietness with which the singer and their companion approach the water, and the second two lines suggest that they will depart just as quietly. The repetition of "Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low" throughout the song creates a calming and meditative effect, as if the singer is speaking an incantation or mantra. The use of whistle in the song adds to the idea of peacefulness and tranquility by mimicking the sound of the wind or the waves.

The line "I'll shed my silence on the sea silently" suggests that the singer is intentionally being quiet and still, perhaps to fully appreciate the beauty of the ocean. The line "And when we go shed your waves soundlessly" implies that the sea is also capable of being peaceful and calm when it's time to depart. Overall, the song creates a sense of relaxation and renewal, urging the listener to take a moment to appreciate the natural world around them.

Line by Line Meaning

We came so by to the sea silently,
We arrived at the sea without making any noise or disturbance, almost as if we were trying to be invisible.

So when we go to the sea soundlessly.
Similarly, we plan to leave the sea with the same discretion and absence of sound.

Say ma no fy byaba see na go, say ma no by byaba da say na low.
The words 'say ma no fy byaba see na go' followed by 'say ma no by byaba da say na low' are a repeated refrain in the song, representing a sense of communication and unity between the singers that goes beyond language and meaning.

Say when e co by on a pa say ne fo by,
This line suggests that something happens when 'e co' (which is not further defined in the song) is around or present, and that this may have implications on a physical or emotional level.

And when we go by on a so, on a so.
Likewise, when 'we go by' something or somewhere, there seems to be a sense of direction and intention that is tied to the concept of 'so' (again, not defined in the lyrics).

(Whistle)
At this point in the song, the music takes over and conveys a sense of emotional release and freedom that goes beyond the specific meaning of the words being sung.

I'll shed my silence on the sea silently,
The use of 'shed' suggests a process of letting go and opening up, even though the silence is still present and maintained. This may suggest a desire to express oneself without making too much noise or disturbance.

And when we go shed your waves soundlessly.
The metaphor of shedding 'waves' (which could represent emotions, thoughts or actions) connects to the idea of the sea and suggests a sense of mutual understanding between the artists. This is reinforced by the use of 'we' instead of 'I' in the second part of the sentence.

Say in any yuh puh puh puh, say in any yuh puh puh puh).
The final lines of the song seem to suggest a sense of playfulness and joy that transcends any specific meaning or feeling. The repetition of 'say' and 'puh puh puh' may also evoke a sense of rhythm and musicality that can be enjoyed for its own sake.

We all seem to have wonderfully odd stories as to how we came across this song, well here is mine;

I have a wonderfully weird and brilliant friend. They are odd but in the best way, they connect to me on a spiritual level.

Well, said friend and I wanted to go to a folk festival and to do so, so far from our distant homes, we needed to stay somewhere close to the festival.

My friend has many contacts, they are mystical and whimsical, they had a place for us to stay through air b&b, but not like the usual crap you find through air b&b service. This was different. We stayed in a stunning home surrounded by trees, nature, waterfalls, ancient ruins. My soul felt as though it had found its home.

We woke on the day we needed to head to the festival, we had homemade bread and rose water porridge, I was in heaven. I felt at peace. And this song played. We didn't understand it but we loved it. I recorded a section as me and my lovely friend danced to it, and since then I have been trying to find the song.

I finally found a website to upload song snippets. And though my recording wasn't great or crystal clear, the website gave me a link. To this video. Goodness I am so happy to have found it.

My good close friend who I love platonically, I hope you and your robin are doing well.

I heard this in a busy shoe shop and stood still under the speaker trying to catch a fragment of lyric. I even emailed their head office to try to find out what it was. So happy now that I've tracked it down.

Ahahah… 😁….I have the same attitude when my attention is caught in any circumstances by a piece of great music. I do whatever is required to find out who/what…all the tricks are allowed to go closer to that speaker or even standing in front of a lift not allowing the car door to close… but surely I can figure it out the face of the shop staff when they received your email…😂🤭😉
