Silver Circle
Faith and the Muse Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Our secret be benefit Their unhappy lack of it
Awaken my trusting friend My undisturbed reflection
So fluid your beauty All gears and teeth
Come Alive
Come to life my second skin To protect the madness locked within
Though words did betray us Did bury our past Cry blasphemy
Cancer masters instinct Sad passive release
Come Alive
Take my dear ones The use of this spell may serve too well
Our mouth is our chalice Our tongue our sword
And truth holds a dozen doors One thrown open wide shall yield one more
Yet mystery remains above their eyes
Come Alive
The Silver Circle by Faith and the Muse is a mysterious and haunting song that invites the listener to explore the dark side of the human psyche. The song seems to be speaking to a specific person, a friend or perhaps a lover, as the lyrics are written in the second person. The singer is asking this person to embrace their dark side and to join them in a secret circle where their hidden desires can be expressed freely.
In the first verse, the singer speaks to the devil inside of them, asking it to possess the poor company around them. They see their secret as a benefit, while others suffer due to their lack of awareness. In the second verse, the singer addresses their "second skin," which serves to protect the madness within them. They reference a place where they can "touch in tongues," which seems to suggest a sensual or sexual encounter, but words can betray them and bury their past. There is a sense of desperation in these lyrics, as if time is running out and they must act quickly to satisfy their desires.
The chorus is a call to action, urging the listener to "come alive" and join them in their dark pursuits. They speak of a spell that may serve too well, and suggest that their mouth is their chalice and their tongue is their sword. The final lines speak of truth and mystery, suggesting that there is an unexplored realm of the unknown that lies beyond their eyes.
Overall, The Silver Circle is a deeply evocative song that speaks to the complexity and duality of human nature. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but the underlying message seems to be one of embracing one's dark side and exploring the unknown.
