For some years, both musicians leisurely polish the demo of what will become a new band from the Montreal scene: Feathership. Their buddies join for the fun: Gregory Leclair-Paquet (ex-guitarist from the Stills and member of Plaza Musique), Mathieu Véziau (drummer for Mille Monarques and l'Indice) and Étienne Rocheleau (bassist member of l'Indice).
Feathership plunges us undoubtedly into an authentic musical universe where indie rock meets psych-folk. "Feathership is pretty much the contrast between lightness and loudness. There is a kind of softness, which flows throughout the songs, but always tied to a palpable tension in the background", admits front man Jean-Philippe Sauvé.
In January 2009, the band struck a deal with Maisonnette (Abd Al Malik, A. Désilets) and entered Masterkut Studios in Montreal generating a sound which recalls Donovan, Elliot Smith, and Fleet Foxes. The 6 songs of the self-titled debut-EP reveal many sounds from the 60's, and retain post-rock elements which are definitely modern. "The mood for the final recording was fantastic. Even though there was a quite a lot produced in our basements, they were many surprises until the end, and we discovered even more in the studio", said Jean-Philippe.

You know I never never dreamed you'd come by
You know I never never let you set fire
Playing by the rules
I was thinking about you
Didn't care for any body building
Turned the keys and let the engine rolling
You were asking for the truth
Tumbling and tumbling and tumbling and tumble, tumble low
Tumbling and tumbling and tumble, tumble low
Tumble low
Like a siren in a daycare center
Like a guest into my country manor
You were begging for a room
I've been thinking about you
Saw a cardinal on the ceiling
It was a devilish type of feeling
You were wrong about the view
I was looking at you
And I firmly believed you were like satan
Your sweat fell to the floor like Chinese curtains
You slid your way back on the floor
Never never never never asked for more
Tumbling and tumbling, and tumbling and tumble, tumble low
Tumble low
Tumbling and tumbling, and tumbling and tumble, tumble low
Tumble low
And through the loophole of your wildest manners
I was kind of feeling boiling over
I was wrong about the view
I was thinking about you
It took me moments to absorb your senses
You were a Cadillac in the bushes
I was running for a clue
I've been thinking about you
I was wrong about the view, I was thinking about you
The lyrics to Feathership's Tumbling delve into a complex and tangled relationship between two individuals. The song begins with the singer expressing surprise at the other person's presence and admitting that they never expected them to come around. However, despite this, they find themselves drawn to this person and admit that they have been thinking about them. The singer then goes on to describe a moment of intense attraction, comparing the other person to a siren and admitting that they were wrong about them. Although they had initially believed the other person to be like a devil, they see them now in a more positive light.
