$1,000 (AUD$1300) I question the stewards integrity. Ortiz Jr should have been given at least a $5000 fine and a 1 month ban maybe 1.5/2 months ban at most. Walking up to a fellow jockey and throwing hand is not on, and should have been looked down upon much greater than it was, no matter whos fault it was.

There are fights everyday in the jocks room and no he doesn't make 1000 in a sec.. whatever the purse is he gets 6%.. which is 6k.. his agent gets 30% of that.. his valet gets 5% and uncle same gets close to 20%.. so for a 100k race he takes home 2700..

The owner pay the jockey 10%(used to be), the jockey pay his agent 10%( used to be) and I really don't know how much the owner pay his trainer. Uncle Sam don't get shit....he only get whatever all those people pay in income tax according to the money all those people report individually in their income tax as a salary annually. The trainer of the horse also pay the groom from whatever he gets. The trainer is the one that hire the groom to work for him.

I met Paco, cool guy, real gentleman. He gave me his phone number and said he was getting some good 2 year olds coming up. About a week later I bet one of his 2 year olds and he won for fun, I texted him and congratulated him, he texted me back and gave me a big thank you. Super cool guy, but a tenacious, gutsy rider.

Looked like Paco was coming out while Irad was coming in to save some ground. I kept wondering why that happened. Maybe Paco felt the outside ground might be firmer and get him some speed, and relieve his horse of being herded into the rail. Irad probably just explains it, "he screwed up, put me in danger, and deserves a punch in the face", lol.

Four foot ten Julie Krone used to fight other jockeys, most notably Joe Bravo back in the late 80s. Intimidation is a big part of racing. Paco is not liked by many riders, even TVG commentators speak of his overly aggressive style. Aggressive is good, dirty is not. Ask the man to stand up before you take a swing tho.

The 1 was beat, Paco knew it but chose to swing out behind the 4 to make it look like he’d been cut off. The safe thing to do was to stay along the rail and ride it out. He was acting, like a soccer player flopping on the ground. Then he’s got the audacity to call foul!? Now, look, ya can’t go getting violent with people - but I do understand why Ortiz was upset. You can literally watch Lopez guide TGT to the right whenever KA begins to clear him. He was TRYING to create an impediment just so he could claim foul and have Ortiz/KA disqualified thus bumping him/TGT to first place. Lopez is known for his reckless riding (everyone who knows U.S. horse racing knows this) and although I don't agree with Irad throwing hands, I can understand why he was so furious. Furthermore, Irad's punches were hardly damaging. The guy is the size of a ten year old so please. 🙄

Debe cuidar mas su imagen Irad Ortiz como Jockey estelar, estas cosas no se resuelven de esta manera ademas que lo cruzo de manera indebida en la curva y adicional a esto le pega al Paco estando en desventaja...quien sabe que se dirian en la recta y al finalizar la carrera. Muy mal espectaculo para ambos jockeys. Los han debido suspender y curso de relaciones interpersonales para que aprendan a comportarse en publico.

Irad and Paco have history here........Irad tried taking Paco down a few years ago while his brother won the race........These 2 jockeys are riding their butts off down there in Florida.
It looks like Paco is finally trying his best. I love both these riders....Irad always seems to try and win every race.....I think this fight is good for the game showing how competitive these two guys are,

A blind man on a trotting horse could see Paco's horse was beaten plus he was inside of Irad top of the lane and could have ridden out his mount along the rail down the stretch. That was a naughty peice of race riding by him and even naughtier to claim foul but Irad had no right putting his hand on Paco nevertheless. yo juraba que todos estos jockeys eran amigos, que eran como hermanos, que se las llevaban muy bien todos, pero viendo este video queda claro que no es asi y que hay una gran rivalidad entre ellos.
