(2) German Trance project of Ralph Fritsch & Detlef Hastik, active throughout the 90s which ended with the double A-side release: "You're My Angel / The Moon Is Shining" in 2003. "You're My Angel" was later covered by the UK duo Styles & Breeze.

Further information on (1) entry below:
The Canadian musician decided to stop using this moniker in December 18th, 2009 and start using his own name, Owen Pallett, as he planned to release his third album in the Japanese market, where the name 'Final Fantasy' may have conflicted with the famous video game franchise. He also announced that previous albums will be re-released under his name
Owen Pallett is a violinist and singer from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the principal member of the band Final Fantasy, which is essentially a solo group, although Leon Taheny is also credited as drummer and engineer. (This band should not be mistaken with Square Enix's famous game series "Final Fantasy" - its music is mostly composed by 植松伸夫. The name "Final Fantasy" is in fact a tribute to the well-known video game series.) On September 18th 2006, Final Fantasy won the inaugural Polaris Music Prize for the best Canadian album (based solely on artistic merit).
Pallett has been noted for his live performances, wherein he plays the violin into a sampler controlled by foot pedals, which then loops back one or more of the previously played musical phrases as he plays additional parts simultaneously. He has also performed with more traditional string quartets as backing musicians.
He believes his work is somewhat influenced by his sexuality, saying "As far as whether the music I make is gay or queer, yeah, it comes from the fact that I'm gay, but that doesn't mean I'm making music about it." in a recent interview.
"I'm taking a cue from Joel Gibb," he begins. "He and I are very different people, and we're very different in terms of the way we've assessed our sexual identities, but one thing I really respect about him is that his music has less to do with his identity and more to do with the more interesting aspects of himself." He states in an earlier interview in Toronto's NOW Magazine concerning his sexual identity and its use in his music.
On 12 February 2005, his debut album, Final Fantasy Has A Good Home, was released by the recording club Blocks (sometimes referred to as 'BlocksBlocksBlocks'), a cooperative, Toronto-based record label of which he is a member. A second album is entitled "He Poos Clouds", and inspiration for the songs are based on the eight schools of magic used for Dungeons & Dragons and how they relate to modern times. It is released under Tomlab.
His previous projects included a 3-piece Toronto-based band, Les Mouches, now defunct. He is still a member of another Toronto band called Picastro. Owen has also recorded and toured with The Hidden Cameras and The Arcade Fire. One of his songs, "This Is the Dream of Win & Regine", was inspired by the principal members of the latter group, Win Butler and Régine Chassagne, and a Dntel song of a similar name (This is the Dream of Evan & Chan). Owen also co-wrote the orchestral arrangements for both of The Arcade Fire's albums, along with Régine Chassagne.
FF8- Eyes on Me
Final Fantasy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
On the stage, on my own
Whenever said my words
Wishing they would be heard
I saw you smiling at me
Was it real, or just my fantasy?
You'd always be there in the corner
Of this tiny little bar
My last night here for you
Same old songs, just once more
My last night here with you?
Maybe yes, maybe no
I kind of liked it your way
How you shyly placed your eyes on me
Oh, did you ever know
That I had mine on you?
Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure?
If frown is shown, then
I will know that you are no dreamer
So let me come to you
Close as I wanted to be
Close enough for me
To feel your heart beating fast
And stay there as I whisper
How I loved your peaceful eyes on me
Did you ever know
That I had mine on you?
Darling, so share with me
Your love if you have enough
Your tears if you're holding back
Or pain if that's what it is
How can I let you know
I'm more than the dress and the voice
Just reach me out, then
You will know that you are not dreaming
Darling, so there you are
With that look on your face
As if you're never hurt
As if you're never down
Shall I be the one for you
Who pinches you softly but sure?
If frown is shown, then
I will know that you are no dreamer
The lyrics to "Eyes On Me," written by Nobuo Uematsu and performed by Faye Wong for the video game Final Fantasy VIII, is a poignant representation of two people who have been silently watching each other from afar. The singer of the song is a performer who has been singing for an audience in a small bar, hoping that someone in the crowd would notice her. She then sees a man in the corner who has been staring back at her throughout the performance. She questions whether or not his smile was genuine or if it was just a figment of her imagination.
As the night progresses and her performance comes to an end, the singer begins to become introspective about the man in the corner. She wonders if this is her last night with him and if he has been enjoying her performance. She is drawn to the way he looks at her bashfully and with a sense of admiration. The singer then contemplates reaching out to him and being more than just a beautiful voice or a pretty dress. She wants to be seen and cherished for who she is by this man who has captured her attention.
The chorus of the song represents the emotional climax of their interactions, with the singer whispering to him that she loves his eyes being on her while also observing that hers have been on him the whole time. The singer offers to be there for him in any way she can, as long as he is willing to share his pain, his love, or his tears. She offers him an opportunity to reach out to her and discover that he is not dreaming.

I tell you a story, an impossible but true story:
When I was young I played FF7 and was blown away, like most people. So of course I played 8 too, heard the song, loved it and always remembered it.
Anyway life went on, got a job, but at some point at the lowest point of my life I decided I need to do something else. Years have passed, it is 2009 and I was going on a trip to find myself. Went backpacking for half a year in South Wast Asia and China. At the end end my trip in China I meet a girl, a Chinese girl in my hostel room and she was listening to this song on her phone.
So I went like "Yo, isn't that Eyes on me from Final Fantasy 8?" and she's like, no it's from Faye Wong, she is a Chinese singer and I'm like "No I meant from the video game" and she just starred at me with blank eyes, like wtf is he talking about. So I explained, it's a japanese video game and I always thought the singer is Japanese as well. She still confused what kind of weirdo I am, so I asked her out with the people I meet in the hostel together tonight. She said, well I will think about it... She never came...
But next afternoon after waking up hangover I found a note beside my pillow: "I'm so sorry I didn't came but thank you for inviting me, here my phone and email. Had to leave early in the morning". She was just polite, which I didn't know. I did contact her, even tough she didn't expect me to as it was just meant as a apology for being unpolite in her opinion.
End of story? No...
We stayed in contact even after I've been back home. But I still wasn't finished. So I asked her to help me find a school in which I could study Chinese for a year, which she really did...
Forward to 2019, the rest is history and we are married for 6 years and right now we are moving from China to my country.
All because someone at Squaresoft 20 years ago decided to include a Chinese song in a Japanese video game. We are also going to have children soon. So, a life will be created only because of that...

I remember the scene when Squal and Rino dancing and I made a plan on prom, to have her as my dancing partner.
after highschool we are lost contact , we separated when we are go to university, but after 6 years we met again, on a bus when I played this game on my PSP , i really focused and not recognized that she is sat in front of me. but as the sound of this song .
suddenly some voice that I recognized called my name. and then I found her again.
and now we are already married and have two kids.

I was 8 when my brother came home with FFVIII. I would watch him play for hours. I instantly fell in love with this song hearing it for the first time. I'm 31 now and I just got married this past weekend. I walked down the aisle to this song. I still get teary eyed thinking about it. Music can move you so deeply.
