Peach Plum Pear
Final Fantasy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We speak in the store
I'm a sensitive bore
You seem markedly more
And I'm oozing suprise

But it's late in the day
And you're well on your way
What was golden went gray
And I'm suddenly shy

And all the gathering floozies
Afford to be choosy
And all sneezing darkly
In the dimming divide

But I have read the right books
To interpret your looks
You were knocking me down
With the palm of your eye

This is unlike the story
it was written to be
You were riding its back
when it used to ride me

And we were galloping manic
to the mouth of the source
we were swallowing panic
in the face of its force

And I was blue and unwell
Made me bolt like a horse

Now it's done
Watch it go
You've changed some
Water runs from the snow

Am I so dear
Do I run rare
You've changed some

Peach, plum, pear
Peach, plum

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Final Fantasy's song Peach Plum Pear seems to be about a failed relationship that the singer is reflecting on. The first two lines suggest that the singer is not as interesting as the person they are speaking to. The next few lines hint at a blossoming romance, but it seems like it has fizzled out as time has passed. The singer seems to have misread the signals from the other person and is now feeling shy.

The following lines talk about the other people in the store who are looking for someone to choose. The singer seems to be different and is drawn to the other person based on their looks. This is emphasized when they mention that they have read the right books to interpret their looks. However, the relationship did not turn out as expected.

The second verse is about how the relationship used to be. It was once exciting, but it now seems like it has ended. The singer is feeling blue and unwell, which made them bolt like a horse. The last two lines suggest that the other person has moved on, and the singer is left to wonder if they were ever genuinely loved. Overall, this song seems to be about the complexity of relationships and how they can change over time.

WOW. I was at this show with my good friend and we both walked out saying that was the best show we saw in a long time. This brings back so many great memories. I remember sharing a conversation and a cig with Owen outside after the show. Such a sweet and mellow guy from what I remember. Fantastic!

I literally feel the same way. I originally downloaded it to go onto my video iPod in 2007, but that’s been dead for sometime.
