Red Sun
Final Fantasy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'd been living through days
Carrying no burden
But the shit of cattle
And my resignation

Until the sun rose crimson
Crept across my limbs and
I saw that they were earthen
That they decay and worsen

And from my ginger chest, there
Came the sound of thunder
I am not a father
I am not a farmer

I tremble to speak of it
Held her in my arms and
Pressed her to my heart and
Pressed my hand o'er her lips

I murmured words of his love
I will be his baron
With him I have an ending

With him I have completion
And the cover of night

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Final Fantasy's song Red Sun are full of symbolism and imagery that evoke a sense of existentialism and mortality. The singer of the song has been living a life devoid of purpose or meaning, carrying the weight of mundane tasks such as tending to cattle. However, when he sees the crimson sun rising and spreading across his limbs, he suddenly becomes aware of his mortality and the fact that his body will eventually decay and deteriorate, just like the earth.

The singer's realization is accompanied by a profound sense of grief and despair, symbolized by the sound of thunder emanating from his chest. He acknowledges that he is neither a father nor a farmer, but rather a being with a consciousness that is aware of its own mortality. The singer then goes on to speak about holding someone in his arms, possibly a lover or a companion, and whispering words of love to them while realizing that death is the only completion or ending that he can share with them. The cover of night symbolizes the finality of death, which ultimately envelops every living being.

Overall, the lyrics of Red Sun are a meditation on the transience of life and the inevitability of death. The song highlights the human desire to find meaning and purpose in a world that is constantly changing and unpredictable, and the sense of loss and grief that accompanies the realization that all things must come to an end.

Kupka: Like I said...
Dominants are evil, Rosfield.
And I'm very in touch with my inner Eikon.

@@caivt1 Welcome to the mind of a different kind
Where we've been growing slowly
Think I'm on 11, but I'm on a 9
Guess you don't really know me
Running from the past is a losing game
It never brings you glory
Been down this road before
Already know this story

All I'm saying is... GIVE STONE A CHANCE!
- Kupka probably.

@BudokaiTH

The nemesis arc between Clive and Kupka is just great.

@GZilla311

I saw it as kind of one-sided. At best.

Kupka hates Clive for Benadikta, but Clive mostly fights him because it’s what he does. He seems to hate the ACTIONS more than Hugo himself.

In contrast to how Clive hated Ifrit until he realized the truth, which DID feel like a personal animosity on Clive's end.

@BudokaiTH

@GZilla311  Can't really say it's one-sided if one did something to hurt another, intentionally or not. Whether Clive knew his attachment to Benna or not, he did start their conflict from there. Hugo slaughtered the people in the 1st Hideaway, the Branded from anywhere he could get to, and then the people of Roseria, all to get at Clive.

"Cross you?! Ill kill you" man I love Clive Rosfield

@keroro407
