Stockholm
Fit for a King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Bow down to the enemy. Spineless now, you kiss the ring. Welcome insecurity, proclaiming your own defeat. Words spread like bleeding rain. Lies injected straight to the vain. Vow to authority, to never wake up, never question their lead. No one's gonna save your soul. Devoured then you're thrown to the wolves. Bow down to the enemy. Spineless now, you kiss the ring. Welcome insecurity, proclaiming your own defeat. Waiting for them to save. Caving, you found your place. Found your place and you swear that you're heard, but you're a sheep in the herd with your face in the dirt. They want it all, they don't want peace. They will bury you six feet deep. No one's gonna save your soul, devoured then you're thrown to the wolves.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Fit for a King's song "Stockholm" depict a narrative of submission and surrender to authority. The opening lines set the tone, urging the listener to bow down and kiss the ring of the enemy. This symbolizes relinquishing personal autonomy and surrendering to a higher power. The repetition of the phrase "welcome insecurity" emphasizes the self-defeating nature of this surrender, suggesting that by submitting, one is proclaiming their own defeat and accepting a state of insecurity.

The lyrics also highlight the pervasive spread of misinformation and manipulation. Words are described as spreading like "bleeding rain," implying that lies and deceit are being injected into society's veins. The vow to authority and refusal to question their lead further accentuates the theme of blind submission. The line "No one's gonna save your soul, devoured then you're thrown to the wolves" warns against the consequences of this obedience, suggesting that individuals who willingly submit become prey to those in power.

The chorus reinforces the message, emphasizing the futility of waiting for salvation from these manipulative forces. The line "caving, you found your place" suggests succumbing to the pressure and finding comfort in submission. The lyrics highlight the irony of feeling heard while being just another face in the dirt, implying that those who conform are ultimately powerless and unheard. The final lines reiterate the sinister intentions of those in control, who desire power and domination rather than peace.

Overall, "Stockholm" delves into the themes of blind obedience, manipulation, and the consequences of surrendering personal autonomy to authority.

NinjaGamer9

Headbanging in bed at midnight and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Ben Hostetter

My favorite heavier song on the album hands down. That breakdown makes me wanna crack skulls in the pit and this isn't repetitive at all. Love it

Rocket

Oh just wait. There are some better ones

Jake Decker

@Rocket This one is better than God of Fire, Annihilation AND Vendetta. Vendetta is still amazing but I think this one edges it out. Prophet is the best song tho.

Ben Hostetter

@Rocket Nah I've heard the whole album for weeks now. This beats out Vendetta imo cuz the breakdown in Vendetta is like 5 seconds long lol. God of Fire is just a bit boring.

Prophet is one of my favorites on the album but I wouldn't classify it in the same category of "heavy" as this, Vendetta, and GoF. Louder Voice is another one of my favorites.
