The band comprises drummer Jared Easterling, vocalist Ryan Kirby, bassist Ryan "Tuck" O'Leary and guitarist Daniel Gailey. Easterling is the only member of the original line-up that remains in the band. They released two independent EPs entitled Fit for a King in 2008 and Awaken the Vesper in 2009. They also released one independent album, Descendants, in 2011. After the band getting signed to Solid State Records, they released four studio albums through this label: Creation/Destruction (2013), Slave to Nothing (2014), Deathgrip (2016) and Dark Skies (2018). Their upcoming sixth studio album, The Path, is set for release on September 18, 2020.

You can bury me alive
I will always stand for this
And what good are my hands if they don't fight back?
I refuse to let this die
This is my everlasting purpose
I will be the end of your lies
Expecting me to stand still
You hold me down
Thinking I will give in to you
You may live your life in the shadow of doubt
But that's not where I will lay my head to rest
They say their words
But nothing breaks the surface
(Yet you say you believe)
We lay our heads down
For something empty
(We must be the enemy)
My words may cut like daggers
But I wasn't put here to keep my thoughts inside
I am the enemy
I am the enemy
I am the enemy!
I won't hide behind the mask
You've made for me
I won't be shut down
By the sound of desperate pleas
I won't be brought to my knees by the ones who say I'm worthless
I will never back down
I am the enemy
They say their words
But nothing breaks the surface
(Yet you say you believe)
We lay our heads down
For something empty
(We must be the enemy)
They say their words
But nothing breaks the surface
(Yet you say you believe)
We lay our heads down
For something empty
(We must be the enemy)
I am the enemy
No apologies
The song "Warpath" by Fit For A King is a powerful anthem about standing up for one's beliefs and never backing down. The lyrics express a determination to resist the forces that try to break down the singer, even if it means risking everything they have. The opening lines proclaim a resolute defiance in the face of adversity, stating that the singer cannot be broken down or buried alive, and that their hands must always fight back. The purpose behind this resolve is an "everlasting" one, indicating that it is deeply ingrained and not just a passing fancy. The singer declares that they will "be the end of [their] lies", revealing a sense of righteous indignation towards those who would seek to deceive or manipulate them.
The next section of the song describes the struggles that the singer faces in the form of their opponents trying to hold them down or get them to give into their demands. However, the singer maintains that they will never rest or lay their head in the "shadow of doubt", indicating that they will constantly strive to achieve their goals even in the face of overwhelming odds. This sense of determination is reinforced by the repetition of the phrase "I am the enemy" towards the end of the song, which suggests that the singer sees themselves as a force to be reckoned with rather than a victim to be pitied. The song closes with a defiant declaration that the singer will never apologize for who they are, indicating a sense of pride in their own identity and beliefs.
