Ghosts
Flags Lyrics

Serve and protect, watch your step
Got civil rights, dressed in white
The cops and the klan, are out in force
You score 3 K's, a Trojan Horse

No, no, no mercy
No mercy, no release
No mercy, no release

Protect and serve, in a hood
Fine white knights, thin blue lines
Uphold the law, with brutal force
Your a Ghost Skin, a Trojan Horse

No, no, no mercy
No mercy, no release
No mercy, no release

Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Serve and Protect)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Watch your step)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Serve and Protect)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Watch your step)

No mercy, no release
No mercy, no release

Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Serve and Protect)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Watch your step)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Serve and Protect)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Watch your step)

Wake up, wake up, wake up with fleas
Wake up, wake up, wake up with fleas
Wake up, wake up, wake up with fleas
Wake, wake, wake up
You'll wake up with fleas

No mercy, no release

Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Serve and Protect)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Watch your step)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Serve and Protect)
Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas
(Watch your step)

No mercy, no release
No mercy, no release

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song "Ghosts" by Flags deal with the topic of racism and institutional violence. The first stanza mentions civil rights and the police force, with the suggestion that the two may not always be compatible. The imagery of "civil rights, dressed in white" juxtaposes the purity of the color white with the harsh reality of police brutality, reignited recently with events such as the death of George Floyd. The line "The cops and the klan, are out in force" makes a direct link between institutional and systemic racism, highlighting the fact that the police can be an enforcer of racist ideologies. The next line "You score 3 K's, a Trojan Horse" refers to the three Ks in the acronym for the Ku Klux Klan, which is seen as a way to infiltrate institutions with racist ideologies. As such, the police force is portrayed as a Trojan horse that smuggles in these ideologies with the guise of serving and protecting.

The repeated lines of "No mercy, no release" suggest the lack of accountability for those in power, who can act with impunity without fear of punishment. The hook "Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas" is a clear reference to the idea that associating with those who hold racist views can contaminate one's own beliefs and values. The final lines "You'll wake up with fleas" gives a final warning to those who don't distance themselves from these harmful ideologies. Overall, the song laments the fact that institutional racism still exists and has infiltrated many organizations, such as the police force, calling for individuals to be more aware of their own associations.

Does the person filming just not get scared? It's consistently smooth, I mean even with a stabilizer, you'd get some movements but nothing here!

The set designs are soo good. It’s sad they are so wide open at times. A lot of the scare is lost because the ceilings are so high and the spaces are so wide. Also, The actors have lack luster scares. But WOW! Those sets tho!!
