New to Nashville's singer-songwriter scene is artist Fleurie, the musical moniker of Lauren Strahm, a 24-year-old hailing from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. The French word, meaning "in bloom" was chosen by the artist herself, who wanted an alias that accurately represented her sound. With an array of musical influences, including Coldplay, Imogen Heap, Dashboard Confessional, and The Fray, Strahm cites that her goal in writing every song is staying honest and true to the sound within her and the story being told.
The first EP from Fleurie, Fear & Fable, was released in October of 2013. Though it bears some darker tones thematically and lyrically, Strahm manages to deliver them softly and quite vulnerably to the listener. Fear & Fable is a collection of carefully constructed stories inhabiting haunting melodies woven through organic sounds - very much so a minimalist approach but with sonic depth.
Since moving to Nashville and the release of Fear & Fable, Fleurie has been at work exploring new sonic landscapes and delving into writing the part of the story she finds herself journeying now. Fleurie has a new EP in the works for release spring/summer of 2015.

For every rape survivor, every abuse victim, every family that lost someone in a violent way, every kidnapped man woman or child, every person suffering in Afghanistan, Israel, Baghdad, Europe, America, Korea, every corner of the world, every massacre survivor, every child that survived their home, every molested survivor, keep marching on. You're not alone. God is always with you now and forever. God will be with you now and forever. There are millions like you, who have survived what you did and more. The monsters shall not win. They will lose the war. Satan, who partially causes the monsters will lose in the End. They may have won the battles, but they'll lose the war because of your Faith, Hope, Courage, and Brave face. Keep smiling. Your smiles will break them, because they'll know you didn't break, you didn't give up. They'll break because you are stronger. Keep fighting. Stay brave, run into the danger, fight the evil head on, and they will lose. To anyone reading this, if you are a victim, a survivor, I'm proud of you for continuing the fight. Becuase the actual music is not very creative nor innovative, she relies on her insanely good voice. This song, in my opinions, is a bit of an exception to that. The music is wonderfully executed.
