Flipturn Lyrics

Is that you got miles to go
Take it in, don′t take it slow
For nothing
Well yesterday
Love was in another state
If you could, you'd make her wait
For nothing
You′ve never changed your mind
You've got too much pride
Someone said they saw you
And you were driving high
But you don't care
You ain′t got health care
And it ain′t fair, but it's alright
Honestly, it′s alright if you
Can't be free
Better off with company
Than nothing
You′ve never changed your mind
You've got too much pride
Someone said they saw you
And you were driving high
But you don′t care
You ain't got health care
And it ain't fair, but it′s alright
And it′s alright
It's alright
The opening lines of Flipturn's "Playground" convey a sense of determination and urgency, encouraging the listener to keep moving forward despite the long road ahead. The repeated phrase "for nothing" implies that, although progress may feel slow or meaningless at times, it is still a necessary part of the journey. The second verse introduces the theme of love and the struggle to balance personal desires with commitments to others. The line "your baby waits for nothing" suggests that the singer's romantic partner may be impatient or demanding, adding to their stress and sense of responsibility.
The chorus reinforces the idea that, even when the future seems uncertain, it's better to have companionship and connection than to be alone. However, the final lines of the song also acknowledge that it's okay to have moments of uncertainty or to make mistakes. Despite the challenges faced by the singer, the repeated refrain "it's alright" suggests that they will persevere and come out stronger on the other side.
Overall, "Playground" is a complex and thought-provoking reflection on the struggles and triumphs of young adulthood, from the pressures of relationships to the realities of financial instability. By combining catchy hooks and poignant lyrics, Flipturn has crafted a song that is both relatable and emotionally resonant.

All you know
The only thing you're sure of
Is that you got miles to go
Is that you have a lot to achieve
Take it in, don't take it slow
Take it seriously, don't waste time
For nothing
For no reward
Well yesterday
In the past
Love was in another state
Love was not present
If you could, you'd make her wait
You would postpone love if you could
But your baby waits
But your love interest waits for you
You've never changed your mind
You are unwavering in your beliefs
You've got too much pride
You are too proud to admit you're wrong
Someone said they saw you
Someone claims to have seen you
And you were driving high
And you were under the influence while driving
But you don't care
But you're apathetic to the consequences
You ain't got health care
You don't have access to medical care
And it ain't fair, but it's alright
And although it's unjust, it's acceptable
Honestly, it's alright if you
Truly, it's acceptable if you
Can't be free
Can't exercise your autonomy
Better off with company
Better to not be alone
Than nothing
Than having nothing at all
And it's alright
And everything is okay
It's alright
Everything is okay

@kevinsmusic
I discovered Flipturn at a time where I was at a low point in my life. Going through heartbreak, feeling unsatisfied with where I was working, and overall just unhappy. The whole Citrona album was on repeat on my ears for months. Eventually my heart healed, my job changed, and I found happiness again. Flipturn though, stayed with me, and I’m really grateful for them and the music they make.
