Met misschien een glaasje te veel op vroegen we aan Ben zelf: Hedde gij ok Foejonghai Ben? Is het hier altijd zo'n bende Ben? Bende gij Foejongben Ben? En drie broodjes hamburger later noemden we ons de Foe Jong Bende. Dat jaar deden we voor het eerst mee aan het Kwekfestijn en ondertussen hebben we dat festijn al 26 keer opgeluisterd met onze aanwezigheid. Opgeluisterd? Jazeker want van de vele deelnemers zijn er helaas uitermate weinig die net als de Foe Jong Bende een synoniem zijn voor gezelligheid, enthousiasme en originaliteit.
Gezelligheid? Nou, van de 41 keer dat we gerepeteerd hebben was het twee keer niet gezellig. De eerste keer omdat het de eerste keer was en we nog niet wisten dat we nog veel gezelliger konden zijn. De tweede keer omdat het bier na een half uur op was. Enthousiasme? Onze tekstschrijver wordt de dag na het Kwekfestijn alweer gebeld door leden met ideeen voor het volgende jaar ('Hans, ik heb het: M'n oma ligt in coma met een stoma.' of 'Hans, met Bert. Vannacht kreeg ik toch een geweldig idee: Mia, ik heb een dia, van onze Ria met een glaasje Tia.')
Origineel? Ach, dit soort vreemde teksten gekoppeld aan verschillende muziekstijlen is op zijn zachts uitgedrukt toch origineel te noemen. Iedere soort muziek kan carnavalsmuziek zijn en de Foe Jong Bende is daar zeker een voorbeeld van.

Homo = same. Phone = sound. Homophones are words that have the same sound even if they have not the same written form. Would and wood same prononciation but not same written form.

Some words in English have the same written form but not the same sound. They are homonymes. Read [ri:d] and read [red]
