Monoloog In Stereo
Fokofpolisiekar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
met baie algemene woorde
in 'n algemene huis
kweek algemene drome
'n dosis pynverdowers
op die ou einde van die dag
is dit seker maar
al wat jou gelukkig maak
en oor en oor
'n monoloog in stereo
op 'n mooi dag
soos vandag
ek wonder soms
soms wonder ek
die son skyn gelukkig
gelukkig skyn die son
'n baie standaard geesteskluis
waarin ek myself toesluit
die herlewing was toe net korttermyn
ek het by die agterdeur uitgegly
as jy voel jy moet dan moet jy
as daar soveel van ons is
hoekom sal enige iemand jou mis
A very normal man
With very normal words
In a normal house
cultivates normal dreams
A dose of painkillers
at the end of the day
it is probably
all which makes you happy.
And over and over
A monologue in stereo
On a beautiful day
Like today
I wonder sometimes
Sometimes I wonder
The sun shines happily
Happily the sun shines
A very standard spirit chamber
Where in I lock myself in
The survival was then just short term
I had slipped out of the backdoor
If you feel you must, then you must
If there are so many of us
Why would someone miss you?
The song "Monoloog In Stereo" by Fokofpolisiekar talks about the common, mundane life that many people lead. The lyrics describe a person who lives a very ordinary and unremarkable life, using common words, living in a standard house, and having simple dreams. The person in the song relies on painkillers to get through the day, and finds happiness in simple comforts. The lyrics suggest that there is a kind of emptiness to this existence, which the person tries to fill by speaking to themselves in a kind of monologue. This monologue is heard in stereo, implying that it is a conversation that the person is having with themselves.
The second verse of the song suggests that the person is trapped in a kind of spiritual prison, a "standard spirit chamber," from which they want to escape. They have recently experienced a "revival," but this was only temporary, and they feel that they have slipped back into their mundane existence. The lyrics suggest that the person feels trapped, but also suggests that it is possible to escape. If you feel that you must change your life, then you must take action to do so.
Overall, the song "Monoloog In Stereo" is a powerful statement about the struggle for meaning and purpose in a world that often feels empty and mundane. The lyrics suggest that it is possible to escape from this kind of existence and find a more meaningful life, but that it requires courage and determination to do so.
