For Today Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And when you fall, feel me. You'll see my face on the battleground.
Hell, fear me. I am the one that will bring you down.
And when you fall, feel me. You'll see my face on the battleground.
Let my name be feared at the gates of hell, as I exalt the Savior.
The One that died to buy my victory, and gave me a new name.
Let my name be feared at the gates of hell, as I exalt the Savior.
I will cast you down at the foot of the cross He hung from.
I will stand behind my Savior, as He burns your kingdom down.
And I will see you on your knees before the King of Kings.
You will lose your throne to the chosen ones. The chosen ones will rise.
Tear it to the ground! This is the army we've been waiting for.
Tear it to the ground! We will storm the gates of hell and we will
tear it to the ground! We stand behind the one that conquered death.
Tear it to the ground! And we will stand when there is nothing left.
Tear it to the ground! Tear it to the ground!
Justice! Justice! Justice! God, bring justice!
Justice! We will come against the bondage of hell.
Justice! And we will take back what's taken from us.
Justice! This is our right as heirs to dominion. God, bring justice!
This war will end.
I am the one that will bring you down.
And when you fall, feel me. You'll see my face on the battleground.
Hell, fear me. I am the one that will bring you down.
And when you fall, feel me. You'll see my face on the battleground.
The lyrics of For Today’s song Devastator seem to speak of a warrior who is ready to fight for what he believes in. He is fearless and powerful, declaring that he is the one who will bring his enemies down. He is relentless and ready to tear down the gates of hell, and promises to be there when his enemies are conquered by his army. The singer asks that his name be feared at the gates of hell, as he exalts the Savior who died to buy his victory and gave him a new name.
The song speaks of a battle that will ultimately lead to justice, and the victory of those who stand behind the Savior. The lyrics remind us that we are the heirs to dominion, and that we have the right to fight against the bondage of hell and take back what has been taken from us.
Overall, the message of this song is one of courage, strength, and faith. It reminds us that we are all warriors fighting a battle for what we believe in. It tells us to never give up, and to always stand behind the one who conquered death.

J- Rich Who gives a flying fuck about what "right in God's eyes"?! Why should any living human being need to get permission for all every their actions from what basically amounts to an imaginary friend? That is beyond fucked up, and it's doing "what's right in God's eyes" that has given power to oppressors for thousands of years now!
For example, in just before the Civil War, the south convinced themselves that slavery was doing "what's right in God's eyes". Burning witches was doing "what's right in God's eyes". Making anti-gay laws is doing "what's right in God's eyes".
Do you see the problem with this? Either, God needs his eyes examined or he's an extremely fucked up individual. Or maybe, God is an imaginary being based on the doctrine of people from thousands of years ago who had ideas and mindsets that no longer apply to the human condition in the 21st century and were pretty horrible in the first fucking place.
Here's an example: No where in the Bible is the term Democracy even mentioned. It's is only vaguely referenced just before Jesus' execution. The Jews are given a vote by the Romans to execute Barabbas or Jesus, they chose Barabbas. Now, why would an all-knowing God (who can clearly see into the distant future) not understand the value of democracy as something vital to a civil society? Further yet, why, when given the opportunity to present in action in his holy book, does he choose to throw it under the bus by conveying it in such a negative light?
Two options: God (Yahweh/Jehova of the Old Testament and father of /human incarnation as Jesus) is an asshole who likes to watch (and probably masturbate to ) powerfully corrupt people bring subjugation and suffering upon people. OR this little tale was spun by people who wanted a little power of their own and thus created a magnificent tale (the Bible) to sell to the masses in order to get fame, glory, power, what essentially amounts to domination over others.
What are your thoughts about "Standing your ground" (very poor choice of words considering the religiously endorsed racism in the Bible) and "doing what's right in God's eyes"?

Everything except the lyrics. It's all rehashed so bad, they will literally take entire verses they have used before, and use them again and again, without changing a word.
