Elephant
Freya Ridings Lyrics

Burn, burnin' like sun
I don't forget like an elephant
It's imprinted on my heart
I don't forget
The sun don't set for me
Don't leave me here, don't leave me here
'Cause I can't forget, 'cause I can't forget
It's burnin', still burnin'
Oh, I should have known
I'd blister here alone
And you'd find your own shade
I don't forget
The sun don't set for me
Don't leave me here, don't leave me here
Don't leave me here, don't leave me here
I can't forget, I can't forget
It's burnin', still burnin'
Everywhere I turn and every scar that burns
God, will I never learn?
I can't forget, I can't forget
It's burnin', still burnin'
'Cause I can't forget, I can't forget
It's burnin', still burnin'
The song "Elephant" by Freya Ridings is a heartbreaking and reflective song about a past love that is haunting her. The lyrics "Old love, you're breaking me up, Burn, burnin' like sun" is a depiction of the pain and agony she still feels from a relationship that ended. The line "I don't forget like an elephant, It's imprinted on my heart" emphasizes how memories of this relationship are still very present, and she can't seem to escape the negative impact it has had on her.
The chorus, "Don't leave me here, don't leave me here, 'Cause I can't forget, 'cause I can't forget" portrays her fear of being left alone with the memories that haunt her. She is still burning from the pain of the past love and doesn't know how to move on. The lines, "Oh, I should have known, I'd blister here alone, And you'd find your own shade" portrays her realization that she was left behind by her past love to deal with the aftermath of the relationship.
The song's melancholic and haunting melody, along with her raw emotional vocals, make this song all the more impactful. "Elephant" is a beautiful and powerful song, causing anyone who has experienced the pain of a broken heart to relate to its emotion.

This woman is the best singer I have ever heard. Too bad talent isn't recognized anymore..
@Parrish_Muhoberac
@Steven Goldsmith Man, I couldn't agree more with you. And, she is just a beautiful soul. Imogen Heap as well. both of them deserve so much more recognition. Wait about 10 years.. It will be like Nick Drake all over again, just with Imogen and Freya. She's incredible.
@scottmele6432
She will get more credit anytime now, she was on the gram Norton show, I think that will help bring her music to more of the masses. She's a hidden gem💙

Freya's ballads are pure poetry charged with strong emotions, and her voice is unique and unrepeatable; therefore her performances are not only great music, but much more ...
@sisloan
Wow! the music builds, the voice soars....causing that sudden remembrance of all the women I have loved and lost. I think my heart may have just broken a little...again. This is what music is supposed to do. Strike a chord, stir an emotion, remind you of a life. Please don't ever quit making music.
