So, I live on Vancouver Island, and this was HUGE when it happened. It was almost unheard of for something so disgusting to happen here on our island.

I am a huge fan of this channel, I've recommended it to so many of my fellow true crime fanatics. . But I got a bit over excited when I saw this was by EWU.. because I clicked on it and shared it to a few people... only to realize it was only 18 minutes long.

As someone who has lived on Vancouver Island for almost 40 years, I know that this video would make its rounds through so many people here.. if it was the full thing.

So many of us could not fathom what these kids were thinking, or why they did it... and it would be amazing if EWU could get their hands on the interrogation videos etc, to let us see the mindset of these kids then and what kind of stuff they tried to say or do.

Chances are when they get out, they'll be coming back. I can't see them not returning to their parents homes, and I don't believe the families moved (they may have by now).

This was breaking news when it happened, and when they get out and return the public will circulate it through all of our local groups and pages for the sake of awareness. As we did with Karla Homolka (Ken and Barbie killers), which is how she was caught working at an elementary school under an alias, and said public awareness is what removed her from that position.

So PLEASE if you can, make this a full hour long documentary like your others!!

Apparently a few days ago Kruse was just denied day parole again because he was a still high risk of violence towards an inmate partner. His assessment was marked high for the criteria for psychopathy, sexual sadism and necrophilia.

This man is beyond help. The fact that he could still have the option of parole is astonishing to me.

I don't think it is possible to rehabilitate this kind of cruelty even when it is expressed at an early age. I am all for rehabilitating minors who commit crimes so long as those crimes weren't thrill kills. When someone tortures and kills because they get off on the pain suffering and power there is nothing there to rehabilitate.

Yeah, I think the problems with these types of crimes is that at the age you're able to actually make a plan for a thrill kill and execute on it, you're also developed enough cognitively and emotionally that it would be basically impossible to fully rehabilitate you. Rehabilitation of antisocial children HAS to start when they are extremely young and just start showing psychopathic behavior. I personally fully believe in the ability to rehabilitate psychopaths, but it has to take place long before they do this kind of damage. You pretty much have to do a full life-altering intervention whereby the child is completely removed from their initial environment and immersed in an environment dedicated to rehabilitation. The issue with this is that it requires a LOT of foresight, a LOT of public support to acquire funds for research, and a LOT of people willing to do the thankless work that it inevitably would take

I had a boy as neighbour who tortured their cat, threw sharp arrow darts in his brothers back and was fascinated by Jaws the shark movie. He asked me how much the people who got eaten by a shark got paid as he tought it was real. He was my age and at that age he should know a movie is not real. I tought this guy was a danger and an idiot at the same time a dangerous combination. He once attacked me and I beat the shit out of him. After that he always wanted to hang around me, but as soon as someone more popular came along he tried to get with them. Later he was upset I didnt hang out with him anymore. He ditched me for someone more popular every chance he could, but always came crawling back. So I said goodby to him forever, he invented the word backstabber and litterally threw darts in peoples backs.

My nephew was murdered, shot 8 times in his car because his girlfriends ex didn’t like him dating her. I may be biased in my opinion, but from what my family has experienced in the years since his death, I whole heartedly agree with the parents on this case. Every breath my nephews murderer takes is more than what my nephew will ever be able to feel again.

Someone from my family knows the dad. It might be hard to really feel from these stories but the families of these people that are hurt are never the same after stuff like this happens. I do know that this crime was particularly brutal but I’m positive all the families from the other crimes are just as hurt. If you can take away anything from these videos try to learn what went wrong so stuff like this can happen less. I hope neither of them are never allowed to leave prison.

In the United States this would qualify as "Death by Torture," which usually carries a mandatory death sentence. I would be shocked if they were able to rehabilitate, I usually hope for the best, but this is despicable.

There's no such thing as a mandatory death sentence in the US. Furthermore, 23 states outright prohibit the death penalty, and most of the remaining states rarely, if ever, use it. The death penalty is rare in the US, and, being that the offenders in this case were minors when they committed the crime, they wouldn't be eligible for the death penalty no matter what crime they committed, since you can't get the death penalty for crimes committed as a minor anywhere in the US.

There was a man that killed another man with a hammer, and since the attack was so brutal it was considered torture, and he was able to find law that says death by torture carries the death penalty.

Michigan, for instance, has never had the death penalty in its entire history. A death sentence has never occurred on Michigan soil, except possibly by Native Americans. Of the states that do have the death penalty, less than half actually use it. Furthermore, no state has a crime called "murder by torture" or anything like it. The highest charge is first degree murder (with a few different names like premeditated intentional homicide, but they're all the same basic concept). Adding torture to murder doesn't make the crime more likely to have a death sentence, as far as the law is concerned, let alone a mandatory death sentence. Adding torture to murder, in death penalty states, would make it more likely for the prosecutor to seek the death penalty, but nothing in the law makes it mandatory.

The death penalty is rarely applied, even in trigger happy states. It is illegal in a significant portion of the country. I don't even think it's about "deserving". I think in this case it is just not possible. The way those young men behaved, how they planned it, how they talked and bragged about it, without any empathy makes me believe that they are psychopaths or just in general very deranged and dangerous people. If they will be released, they will hurt someone again. I don't think they CAN BE rehabilitated.

I believe in rehabilitation too, but studying psych I know that some people can and will reject attempts at rehab. They will not care about what they did, maybe even laugh as they talk about it. In the end, rehabilitation is not something that can be forced but suggested, and people like these guys might look at one of us and flip us off if we tried to play nice.

Eventually it ended up with her on probation for truancy. Once she got off probation, it's back to the same antics. It has nothing to do with her family who has shown nothing but support for her. It's a last ditch effort from a family trying to make sure that a child graduates from high school who, if it was up to the child, just says "I don't like school and I don't care if I graduate."

Wow, I can’t believe after all this time watching this channel I’ve come across a crime I personally know of. I had my suspicions when I saw the title but when I heard “Langford BC” my blood ran cold. My boyfriend lived in Langford at the time and he was friends with the victim and her family. He recalls walking by and smelling an odd disturbing smell when passing what he thought was a bon fire, only to get to his friends place and find out what really happened. all he remembers after that was breaking down into a total panic and loosing his mind. He is still traumatized by it to this day and doesn’t like to recall certain details. I’m glad to have heard another breakdown of this story.

I feel for Kimberly, she would of been exactly 5 years younger then I am now has she lived. When I was transfered to a new elementary school 25 ago, I was bullied for the same reason, because I had learning difficulties and I was in the same class with kids with behaviour problems. Canada has very lenient sentences, one of my friends in Canada told me of that kid, I think 9, in a town near them died from a hit and run. The person responsible lived only a minute away from the scene and he even tried to change his truck's appearance. They gave him only 3 years in prison. I went to this school, I knew the two who killed Kimberly. She was a friend of mine, she was my best friends love. And no it was not a Christian school, it had nothing to do with religion. It was an alternative school, and people need to stop putting blame on the school. It is society that failed them not the school or their parents. Their parents reached out for help, but never got the help they needed. I grew up with an older brother with mental health issues and disabilities. He was violent and abusive, it got worse as he got older and into drugs. Me and my mom feared for our life at times. To the point we would be to scared to go home. Fortunately the mother of my best friend which my friend was in love with Kimberly, gave me a place I could escape to. My best friend was also the one who got the shopping cart chain to his head. But all my brothers life my mom tried reaching out for help, nobody ever believed there was a problem and only ever blamed my mother for her parenting. They even tried to take him away from my mom. It wasn't until it was to late and he ended up in jail, then finally everyone started to believe my mom and he got the help he needed. Now he is out of jail, and he is doing amazing and I couldn't be more proud of him. He has changed his life around completely. I'm not saying I have any remorse for these two kids who killed my friend, but we cannot blame a school or parenting for the tragedy that happened. It goes much deeper and farther then that. As well I was one who discovered her body that morning, although I did not know I just thought it was a homeless person fire to stay warm during the night. I became a suspect myself and was questioned by the police. I have sevre trauma from this incident, now I deal with anxiety and depression on a daily basis ever since. But again the way things are now, there is no proper support. Talking to councilors who just act like robots and never actually connect to you. But instead just recommend pumping you full of drugs which only put a band-aid over the actual issues as it builds up and gets worse and worse until you can't take it anymore. And fear the day you try to get off those meds. I found my relief and management of my anxiety and depression through the love and support of my family and friends. The ones who cared about me most, but unfortunately that won't always work for everyone.

So maybe take all that into consideration before you voice your opinion and start assuming. You were not there, you did not go through this. I did and I still live with it.

May you rest in peace Kimberly, you were a very gentle and kind person that I had the pleasure to meet in this life. You were one of the good ones.

I was an account investigator for World of Warcraft prior to the Activision merger and I can confirm that there were extensive chat logs archived; mainly for the purposes of actioning abusive chat, solving hacked account reports, and confirming the existence of items prior to their restoration. However, on some rare occasions I have been called to find logs to provide to law enforcement. In particular, I was on a case that reported to an FBI agent regarding real life threats. The poor girl, I hate to think of what she went through. These 2 ‘boys’, & I use that term loosely, were doomed before they even met. Having parents/ a home with violence, anger issues especially when that angers towards females, is a ticking time bomb.

I don’t think parents, or society realize the utter devastation that is brought down on a developing psyche when children grow up in any type of a negative home. Even the best of homes can pass on personality issue traits, but very negative ones, your going to have a worse & worse outcome depending on the severity of the problems.

People actually grow in norweigan prisons as they have access to pursue healthy activities, hobbies, and education. Of those crimes you stated usually only murderers are released on time as sexual crimes are linked to mental illness and they won't be released. Murderers who are released don't have a chronic mental illness and I've never heard of a released murderer killing again in norway.
