...And We All Have a Hell
From First to Last Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Every day gets worse,
Locked in a vice my thoughts perverse
You must wonder why I look at you that way
Tonight ill make my way into your house
I must; I'm lusting for your body
Skin looks tight, think I just might have
To take a bite, but I know one will turn
To three or four or more my little whore

Tonight, tonight
She's not alone (can you taste the wicked in the room?)
Bobbysoxer so pure, so young
(By morning her soul will be gone, gone, gone.)

I did a beautiful thing,
Relax baby, that's a good girl
You're like my work of art
I can control, I can contort any
Position that I wish,
I make my fantasy reality
Hold still, it will be over soon

Tonight, tonight
She's not alone (can you taste the wicked in the room?)
Bobbysoxer so pure, so young
(By morning her soul will be gone)

I blend with the walls so I won't be seen
My love, you smell so..
I took one good look,
And I followed you home

Tonight, tonight
She's not alone (can you taste the wicked in the room?)

Bobbysoxer so pure, so young
(By morning her soul will be gone)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of From First to Last's "…And We All Have A Hell" are chilling and disturbing. The song is written from the perspective of a delusional and twisted individual who is obsessed with a young girl. The first part of the song portrays the singer's mental state, which is deteriorating by the day. The individual is struggling with his perverse thoughts and desires, and is becoming more and more consumed by them. He fixates on the object of his obsession, whose skin looks tight, and whom he is tempted to bite.

The second part of the song is where the situation becomes truly horrifying. The singer, determined to fulfill his perverse desires, makes his way to the young girl's house, where he intends to do unspeakable things to her. The girl is described as a "bobbysoxer so pure, so young," emphasizing the innocence of the victim. The singer, however, has no qualms about defiling her, claiming that by morning, her soul will be gone.

The third part of the song is the most disturbing, as it reveals the singer's twisted view of the situation. He sees the young girl as his "work of art," a creation that he can control and contort in any way he wishes. He believes that he can make his perverse fantasy a reality, and he asks the girl to hold still, promising that "it will be over soon." The song ends with the singer describing how he follows the girl back to her house, blending in with the walls so that he won't be seen.

Overall, the lyrics of "…And We All Have A Hell" are a harrowing portrayal of a disturbed individual who is driven by his sick desires. The song is a reminder of the horrors that some people are capable of, and it serves as a warning to always be vigilant and aware of our surroundings.

From First to Last really peaked on this album and that was really just about it for the band…

The first album is enjoyable but Sonny was brand new to the band joining initially as a backing guitarist, vocalist with Matt intending to be Frontman.

However Sonny had the voice and it was quickly discovered the band had found their lead vocalist instead… I believe half the album was already written so Sonny’s vocals aren’t quite as present on Deat Diary.

Heroine is a major leap forward for a multitude of reasons… the band had been touring and had grown from high
School kids to adults (although I believe Sonny was still only 17-18 while recording this album). The fact Ross Robinson produced is a huge plus! Ross is a phenomenal producer who’s produced
The Used - The Canyon
Glassjaw’s first 2 albums
At The Drive-In’s Relationship of Command
Slipknot - IOWA
Etc…
Also Andy Wallace Mastered who worked as well on Nirvana’s Nevermind and At The Drive-In’s Relatioship
Of Command (and MANY other famous artists).
Wes Borland of Limp Bizkit and close friend of Ross Robinsonn wrote and performed and even toured for a short while on Heroine
Also Sonny Moore’s lyrics are more personal, mature and focus much more on darker subject matter… in a pretty mature way considering Sonny’s age at the time. He also was pushing his voice to the absolute limit and touring for this album became problematic for him.

Kinda of just a special album from the Emo-post hardcore scene where everything just came together correct and captured a definitive sound.

FFTL imo never came close to this good again and Moore was clearly a big reason due to his success in Dubstep and Production…
