Being familiar with Kurt's music for many years through the introduction of his friend Robert Pancur of Target Records, Gregor Klee signed Frozen Rain to his newly founded label Avenue Of Allies Music. With a company that shared Kurt's musical vision and the love for AOR, melodic rock and Westcoast music Frozen Rain had found a perfect home. The first album came out in April 2008 and was very well received all over the world.
When Kurt met guitar player Rik Priem at the end of 2007 both knew right away they had found the perfect songwriting partner. At the same time Kurt's brother Hans Vereecke decided to pick up his drum sticks again. Keyboard player Jurgen Vitrier and bass player Vincent De Laat (who both played on the first album too) joined the guys and the new Frozen Rain was born. The only thing they still needed was a singer with a very powerful voice to sing on the second album.
It was Kurt's friend Pierpaolo 'Zorro' Monti who suggested Kurt to try out German singer Carsten 'Lizard' Schulz who had just done an amazing job on the Shining Line album. Kurt started talking to Carsten and presented him the new songs. Carsten was very interested to work with the band and the last missing link was found. You can hear the result on the second Frozen Rain album 'Ahead of Time'.
Music Keeps Me Alive
Frozen Rain Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Y si hacemos un muñeco
Ven vamos a jugar
Ya no te puedo
Ver jamas
Hermana sal
Parece que no estas
Soliamos ser amigas
No entiendo lo que paso.
Y si hacemos un muñeco
No tiene que se un muñeco
Y si hacemos un muñeco
En nuestra bici hay que pasiar
Tu compania hacemos falta aqui
Con los retratos ya empeze a comversar
Es algo aburrido solamente ver
Las horas decir ti tac
The above lyrics are actually a mix of Spanish and English from Frozen Rain's song "Music Keeps Me Alive." The Spanish lyrics belong to a popular song from the Disney movie "Frozen" called "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" and the English lyrics are additional original lyrics from Frozen Rain.
The first paragraph with Spanish lyrics talks about making a snowman, an activity done by two sisters who used to be friends. The second paragraph starts with the same Spanish lyrics, but now with changes - the snowman doesn't have to be a snowman, they could make something else. Then it talks about the absence of the sister and her company being missed, and the boredom of watching the clock ticking away the hours.
Overall, the song seems to be about the power of music to give life meaning and bring people together. The reference to "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?" seems to be a nod to the power of childhood memories and nostalgia to transport us to a simpler time.
