He got success as a performer in the early 1980's with the title Détective, and as a composer, with the title Chacun fait (c’qu'il lui plaît) , performed by the group Chagrin d'amour .
He has had great success in 2001 with the musical Romeo et Juliet: de la haine á l'amour .
He also adapted the novel by Margaret Mitchell, Gone with the wind in a musical with his daughter, Laura Presgurvic in the role of Scarlett O'Hara.

In "Les Rois Du Monde," Gérard Presgurvic creates a contrast between two worlds: the world of the wealthy kings who live at the top of the world and the world of the rest of society, who live at the bottom. The kings have a great view, but they are disconnected from the people below, unaware of what they think of them. They live in castles, but they're bored and alone, while the people at the bottom dance and make love. However, the kings fear everything, including love, and they fight amongst themselves for power. Yet, the people at the bottom don't concern themselves with this, as they live their lives day after day and night after night, enjoying the simple pleasures of life, knowing that time is precious and that living is what's most important.
Presgurvic's song can be interpreted as a critique of the social, political, and economic divisions that exist between those at the top of society and the rest of the population. He suggests that the privileged class is disconnected from the struggles of everyday people, and, as a result, they are unable to understand that which truly matters in life. He praises the simple pleasures of life, such as love and living, while condemning the selfishness and fear that motivates those in power.
